Risalat al-Mustarshidin

رسالة المسترشدين

By Al-Harith al-Muhasibi 243h (857 CE) 1 volumes

One of the earliest works on Islamic ethics and self-accounting (muhasabah). Al-Muhasibi, whose name derives from his emphasis on self-examination, outlines the inner dimensions of sincerity, the dangers of the ego, the importance of consistent self-reflection, and the path to genuine devotion. The work influenced all later writers on Islamic spirituality, including al-Ghazali, who drew extensively from al-Muhasibi's methodology.
