English Translation
It was narrated from Sahl ibn Sad al-Saidi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man who wished to marry a woman: 'Is there anything you can give as a mahr, even an iron ring?' The man found nothing. The Prophet ﷺ then said: 'Do you know anything from the Quran?' He said: 'Yes.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I have married her to you for what you know of the Quran.'
