أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي ق

Body (Matn)

َيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ نَجْدَةُ بَنُ عَامِرٍ L7874 إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ، فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ : " إِنَّكَ سَأَلْتَ عَنْ سَهْمِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى الَّذِي ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ، وَإِنَّا كُنَّانَرَى أَنَّ قَرَابَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُمْ، فَأَبَى ذَلِكَ عَلَيْنَا قَوْمُنَا "

English Translation

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) wrote to Najdah ibn Amir in reply to his questions: 'You asked about the share of the close relatives mentioned by Allah — we used to think that the relatives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were they, but our people refused it to us.'
