حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ حَدِيدٍ ، عَنْ صَخْرٍ الْغَامِدِيِّ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأُمَّتِي فِي بُكُورِهَا ". وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً، بَعَثَهَا مِنْ أَوَّلِ النَّهَارِ. قَالَ : فَكَانَ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ رَجُلًا تَاجِرًا فَكَانَ يَبْعَثُ غِلْمَانَهُ مِنْ أَوَّلِ النَّهَارِ، فَكَثُرَ مَالُهُ

It was narrated from Sakhr al-Ghamidi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Allah, bless my nation in their early mornings.' And when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out an expedition, he would send it at the beginning of the day. This man was a merchant and he would send his workers out at the beginning of the day, and his wealth grew.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " لَقَلَّمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَيَخْرُجُ إِذَا أَرَادَ سَفَرًا إِلَّا يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ "

It was narrated from Ka'b (ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rarely departed when he intended a journey except on Thursday.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ ، وَابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُرَحْبِيلُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ، وَخَيْرُ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ "

It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: 'The best of companions in the sight of Allah is the one who is best to his companion, and the best of neighbors in the sight of Allah is the one who is best to his neighbor.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، وَعُقَيْلٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ أَرْبَعَةٌ، وَخَيْرُ الْجُيُوشِ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ، وَخَيْرُ السَّرَايَا أَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ، وَمَا بَلَغَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا فَصَبَرُوا، وَصَدَقُوا فَغُلِبُوا مِنْ قِلَّةٍ "

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best number of companions is four, and the best army is four thousand, and the best detachment is four hundred. An army of twelve thousand will never be defeated out of smallness of numbers if they remain patient and sincere.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَمَّرَ رَجُلًا عَلَى سَرِيَّةٍ أَوْصَاهُ فِي خَاصَّةِ نَفْسِهِ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ، وَبِمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ خَيْرًا، وَقَالَ :" اغْزُوا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، قَاتِلُوا مَنْ كَفَرَ بِاللَّهِ، اغْزُوا وَلَا تَغْدِرُوا، وَلَا تَغُلُّوا، وَلَا تُمَثِّلُوا، وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا وَلِيدًا "

It was narrated from Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed a man over an expedition, he would advise him privately to fear Allah and to treat the Muslims with him well, and say: 'Fight in the name of Allah and in the cause of Allah. Fight those who disbelieve in Allah. Fight and do not break pledges, do not take spoils unlawfully, do not mutilate, and do not kill a child.'

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" لَا تَتَمَنَّوْا لِقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ، وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ الْعَافِيَةَ، فَإِنْ لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ، فَاثْبُتُوا، وَأَكْثِرُوا ذِكْرَ اللَّهِ، فَإِنْ أَجْلَبُوا وَضَجُّوا، فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالصَّمْتِ "

It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not wish to meet the enemy, and ask Allah for well-being. But if you do meet them, stand firm and increase your remembrance of Allah. And if they charge noisily, keep silent.'

أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْعُو أَيَّامَ حُنَيْنٍ :" اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أُحَاوِلُ، وَبِكَ أُصَاوِلُ، وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ "

It was narrated from Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate during the days of Hunayn: 'O Allah, by You I strive, by You I charge, and by You I fight.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَمَّرَ رَجُلًا عَلَى سَرِيَّةٍ أَوْصَاهُ :" إِذَا لَقِيتَ عَدُوَّكَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، فَادْعُهُمْ إِلَى إِحْدَى ثَلَاثِ خِلَالٍ أَوْ ثَلاثِ خِصَالٍ فَأَيَّتُهُمْ مَا أَجَابُوكَ إِلَيْهَا، فَاقْبَلْ مِنْهُمْ وَكُفَّ عَنْهُمْ ثُمَّ ادْعُهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَإِنْ هُمْ أَجَابُوكَ فَاقْبَلْ مِنْهُمْ وَكُفَّ عَنْهُمْ، ثُمَّ ادْعُهُمْ إِلَى التَّحَوُّلِ مِنْ دَارِهِمْ إِلَى دَارِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ، وَأَخْبِرْهُمْ إِنْ هُمْ فَعَلُوا أَنَّ لَهُمْ مَا لِلْمُهَاجِرِينَ، وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا عَلَى الْمُهَاجِرِينَ، فَإِنْ هُمْ أَبَوْا، فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ يَكُونُونَ كَأَعْرَابِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، يَجْرِي عَلَيْهِمْ حُكْمُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي يَجْرِي عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِي الْفَيْءِ وَالْغَنِيمَةِ نَصِيبٌ إِلَّا أَنْ يُجَاهِدُوا مَعَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ. فَإِنْ هُمْ أَبَوْا أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا فِي الْإِسْلامِ، فَسَلْهُمْ إِعْطَاءَ الْجِزْيَةِ، فَإِنْ فَعَلُوا، فَاقْبَلْ مِنْهُمْ وَكُفَّ عَنْهُمْ، فَإِنْ هُمْ أَبَوْا، فَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ وَقَاتِلْهُمْ. وَإِنْ حَاصَرْتَ أَهْلَ حِصْنٍ، فَإِنْ أَرَادُوكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لَهُمْ ذِمَّةَ اللَّهِ وَذِمَّةَ نَبِيِّهِ، فَلَا تَجْعَلْ لَهُمْ ذِمَّةَ اللَّهِ، وَلَا ذِمَّةَ نَبِيِّهِ، وَلَكِنْ اجْعَلْ لَهُمْ ذِمَّتَكَ وَذِمَّةَ أَبِيكَ، وَذِمَّةَ أَصْحَابِكَ، فَإِنَّكُمْ إِنْ تُخْفِرُوا بِذِمَّتِكُمْ وَذِمَّةِ آبَائِكُمْ، أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ أَنْ تُخْفِرُوا ذِمَّةَ اللَّهِ وَذِمَّةَ رَسُولِهِ. وَإِنْ حَاصَرْتَ حِصْنًا فَأَرَادُوكَ أَنْ يَنْزِلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ اللَّهِ، فَلَا تُنْزِلْهُمْ عَلَى حُكْمِ اللَّهِ، وَلَكِنْ أَنْزِلْهُمْ عَلَى حُكْمِكَ، فَإِنَّكَ لَا تَدْرِي أَتُصِيبُ حُكْمَ اللَّهِ فِيهِمْ أَمْ لا، ثُمَّ اقْضِ فِيهِمْ بِمَا شِئْتَ ". قَالَ عَلْقَمَةُ : فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهِ مُقَاتِلَ بْنَ حَيَّانَ ، فَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُسْلِمُ بْنُ هَيْصَمٍ ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ

It was narrated from Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed a man over an expedition, he would advise him: 'When you meet your enemy from the polytheists, call them to one of three things: call them to Islam, and if they respond then accept it and refrain; then call them to move from their land to the land of the emigrants... If they refuse to enter Islam, ask them to pay the jizyah; if they do, accept it and refrain; if they refuse, seek the help of Allah and fight them...'

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ :" مَا قَاتَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْمًا حَتَّى دَعَاهُمْ "، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : سُفْيَانُ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ يَعْنِي : هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never fought a people without first calling them to Islam.'

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ" يُغِيرُ عِنْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ، وَكَانَ يَسْتَمِعُ، فَإِنْ سَمِعَ أَذَانًا، أَمْسَكَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ أَذَانًا، أَغَارَ "

It was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ would raid at the time of the Fajr prayer, and would listen out: if he heard the adhan he would hold back, and if he did not hear the adhan he would raid.

أَخْبَرَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَوْسَ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيَّ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَفْدِ ثَقِيفٍ، قَالَ : وَكُنْتُ فِي أَسْفَلِ الْقُبَّةِ لَيْسَ فِيهَا أَحَدٌ إِلا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَائِمٌ إِذْ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَسَارَّهُ، فَقَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَاقْتُلْهُ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَلَيْسَ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ؟ ". قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : وَأَشُكُّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ؟. قَالَ : بَلَى. قَالَ :" إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا : لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، فَإِذَا قَالُوهَا، حَرُمَتْ عَلَيَّ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَأَمْوَالُهُمْ إِلا بِحَقِّهَا ". قَالَ : وَهُوَ الَّذِي قَتَلَ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ. قَالَ : وَمَا مَاتَ حَتَّى قَتَلَ خَيْرَ إِنْسَانٍ بِالطَّائِفِ

It was narrated from Aws ibn Abi Aws al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the delegation of Thaqif... A man came and whispered to him, and he said: 'Go and kill him.' Then he said: 'Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah?' They said: Yes. He said: 'I was commanded to fight people until they say: there is no god but Allah; when they say it, their blood and wealth are inviolable to me except by right.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" لَا يَحِلُّ دَمُ رَجُلٍ يَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ إِلَّا إِحْدَى ثَلَاثَةِ نَفَرٍ : النَّفْسُ بِالنَّفْسِ، وَالثَّيِّبُ الزَّانِي، وَالتَّارِكُ لِدِينِهِ الْمُفَارِقُ لِلْجَمَاعَةِ "

It was narrated from Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The blood of a man who testifies that there is no god but Allah is not lawful except in one of three cases: a life for a life, the married adulterer, and the one who abandons his religion and separates from the community.'

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، وَكَانَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ تُفَقِّهُهُ. قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَتَادَةَ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " بَعَثَ جَيْشَ الْأُمَرَاءِ، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقُوا فَلَبِثُوا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ، ثُمَّ صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمِنْبَرَ،فَأَمَرَ فَنُودِيَ : الصَّلَاةُ جَامِعَةٌ "

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent the Army of Commanders, and they set out. They were away as long as Allah willed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit, commanded, and it was called out: 'Prayer is gathered!'

أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" الْمُسْتَشَارُ مُؤْتَمَنٌ "

It was narrated from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'The one who is consulted is entrusted.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْحِزَامِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" إِذَا أَرَادَ غَزْوَةً وَرَّى بِغَيْرِهَا "

It was narrated from Ka'b ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he intended a campaign, would give a different impression about his real destination.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُمَيْسٍ ، عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " بَارَزْتُ رَجُلًا فَقَتَلْتُهُ،فَنَفَّلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَلَبَهُ ، فَكَانَ شِعَارُنَا مَعَ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ : أَمِتْ، يَعْنِي : اقْتُلْ "

It was narrated from Salamah ibn al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I dueled a man and killed him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me his spoils.' And our battle cry with Khalid ibn al-Walid was: 'Amit' — meaning: kill.

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَبِي هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْفِهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةِ حُنَيْنٍ، فَكُنَّا فِي يَوْمٍ قَائِظٍ شَدِيدِ الْحَرِّ، فَنَزَلْنَا تَحْتَ ظِلَالِ الشَّجَرِ، . .. .. . فَذَكَرَ الْقِصَّةَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ تُرَابٍ، قَالَ : فَحَدَّثَنِي الَّذِي هُوَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي أَنَّهُ ضَرَبَ بِهِ وُجُوهَهُمْ، وَقَالَ :" شَاهَتِ الْوُجُوهُ " فَهَزَمَ اللَّهُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ. قَالَ يَعْلَى : فَحَدَّثَنِي أَبْنَاؤُهُمْ أَنَّ أَبَاءَهُمْ. قَالُوا : فَمَا بَقِيَ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلا امْتَلَأَتْ عَيْنَاهُ وَفَمُهُ تُرَابًا

It was narrated from Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Fihri (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the campaign of Hunayn on a very hot day... The Prophet ﷺ took a handful of dust and threw it at their faces saying: 'May the faces be disfigured!' And Allah defeated the polytheists. Yaʿla said: Their sons later narrated to me that their fathers said: There was not one of us who did not have both eyes and mouth filled with dust.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ فِي مَجْلِسٍ :" بَايِعُونِي عَلَى أَنْ لا تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا، وَلَا تَسْرِقُوا، وَلَا تَزْنُوا، وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ، وَلَا تَأْتُوا بِبُهْتَانٍ تَفْتَرُونَهُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَرْجُلِكُمْ، فَمَنْ وَفَى مِنْكُمْ، فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَمَنْ أَصَابَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا، فَسَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ، فَأَمْرُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ، إِنْ شَاءَ، عَاقَبَهُ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ عَفَا عَنْهُ، وَمَنْ أَصَابَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا، فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَهُ ". قَالَ : فَبَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

It was narrated from Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us while we were with him in a gathering: 'Pledge allegiance to me that you will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill your children, will not bring a slander you fabricate between your hands and feet — whoever fulfills this, his reward is with Allah; whoever commits any of these sins and Allah conceals it, his matter is with Allah: if He wills He will punish him, and if He wills He will pardon him; and whoever commits it and is punished for it in this world, that is his expiation.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ :" كُنَّا يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ أَلْفًا وَأَرْبَعَ مِائَةٍ، فَبَايَعْنَاهُ وَعُمَرُ آخِذٌ بِيَدِهِ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ وَهِيَ : سَمُرَةٌ ، وَقَالَ : بَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرّ، وَلَمْ نُبَايِعْهُ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ "

It was narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: 'On the day of Hudaybiyyah we were one thousand four hundred; we pledged allegiance to him while Umar was holding his hand under the tree — it was a samura tree. And we pledged not to flee, but we did not pledge to die.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْقُلُ مَعَنَا التُّرَابَ يَوْمَ الْأَحْزَابِ، وَقَدْ " وَارَى التُّرَابُبَيَاضَ إِبِطَيْهِ "، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ لَوْلَا أَنْتَ مَا اهْتَدَيْنَا وَلَا تَصَدَّقْنَا وَلَا صَلَّيْنَا فَأَنْزِلَنَّ سَكِينَةً عَلَيْنَا وَثَبِّتْ الْأَقْدَامَ إِنْ لَاقَيْنَا إِنَّ الْأُلَى قَدْ بَغَوْا عَلَيْنَا وَإِنْ أَرَادُوا فِتْنَةً أَبَيْنَا وَيَرْفَعُ بِهَا صَوْتَهُ

It was narrated from al-Bara' ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was carrying earth with us on the Day of al-Ahzab, and the dust had covered the whiteness of his armpits, while he was saying: 'O Allah, were it not for You, we would not have been guided, nor given in charity, nor prayed. So send down tranquility upon us and make our feet firm if we meet them. The enemies have transgressed against us, and if they seek to cause strife, we refuse!' And he raised his voice with it.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ مَكَّةَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ مِغْفَرٌ، فَلَمَّا نَزَعَهُ، جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،" هَذَا ابْنُ خَطَلٍ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِأَسْتَارِ الْكَعْبَةِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : اقْتُلُوهُ "

It was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca in the year of the Conquest with a helmet on his head. When he took it off, a man came and said: O Messenger of Allah, Ibn Khatal is clinging to the curtains of the Ka'bah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Kill him.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَقَبِيعَةُ سَيْفِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ". قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتَوَائِيُّ خَالَفَهُ. قَالَ : قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَزَعَمَ النَّاسُ أَنَّهُ هُوَ الْمَحْفُوظُ

It was narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the pommel of the Prophet's ﷺ sword was made of silver.

أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " إِذَا ظَهَرَ عَلَى قَوْمٍأَحَبَّ أَنْ يُقِيمَ بِعَرْصَتِهِمْ ثَلَاثًا "

It was narrated from Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ, when he was victorious over a people, would like to stay in their encampment for three days.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ :" حَرَّقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ "

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ burned the date palms of Banu al-Nadir.'

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق الدَّوْسِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ الدَّوْسِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ ظَفِرْتُمْ بِفُلَانٍ وَفُلَانٍ فَحَرِّقُوهُمَا بِالنَّارِ " حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ الْغَدُ، بَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا، فَقَالَ :" إِنِّي قَدْ كُنْتُ أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِتَحْرِيقِ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يُعَذِّبَ بِالنَّارِ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، فَإِنْ ظَفِرْتُمْ بِهِمَا، فَاقْتُلُوهُمَا "

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us in an expedition and said: 'If you capture so-and-so and so-and-so, burn them with fire.' Then the next day he sent to us and said: 'I had commanded you to burn these two men with fire, but then I saw that it is not befitting for anyone to punish with fire except Allah. So if you capture them, kill them.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ هُوَ : ابْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : وُجِدَ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ امْرَأَةٌ مَقْتُولَةٌ " فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْقَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ "

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that a woman was found killed in one of the expeditions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the killing of women and children.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ فَظَفِرَ بِالْمُشْرِكِينَ فَأَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِي الْقَتْلِ حَتَّى قَتَلُوا الذُّرِّيَّةَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ :" مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ ذَهَبَ بِهِمْ الْقَتْلُ حَتَّى قَتَلُوا الذُّرِّيَّةَ؟ أَلا لا تُقْتَلَنَّ ذُرِّيَّةً ثَلَاثًا "

It was narrated from al-Aswad ibn Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a campaign and were victorious over the polytheists. The people rushed to kill until they killed the children. This reached the Prophet ﷺ and he said: 'What is wrong with people that they went so far in killing that they killed the children? Beware: never kill a child.' He said it three times.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْقُرَظِيِّ ، قالَ :" عُرِضْنَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ، فَمَنْ أَنْبَتَ الشَّعْرَ، قُتِلَ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يُنْبِتْ، تُرِكَ "، فَكُنْتُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ لَمْ يُنْبِتْ الشَّعْرَ، فَلَمْ يَقْتُلُونِي. يَعْنِي : يَوْمَ قُرَيْظَةَ

Atiyyah al-Qurazi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'We were presented before the Prophet ﷺ that day: whoever had grown pubic hair was killed, and whoever had not grown it was spared' — and I was among those who had not grown hair, so they did not kill me. That refers to the day of Banu Qurayzah.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ :" فُكُّوا الْعَانِيَ وَأَطْعِمُوا الْجَائِعَ "

It was narrated from Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Free the captive, feed the hungry.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" فَادَى رَجُلًا بِرَجُلَيْنِ "

It was narrated from Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ransomed one man for two men.

أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" أُعْطِيتُ خَمْسًا لَمْ يُعْطَهُنَّ نَبِيٌّ قَبْلِي : بُعِثْتُ إِلَى الْأَحْمَرِ وَالْأَسْوَدِ، وَجُعِلَتْ لِيَ الْأَرْضُ مَسْجِدًا وَطَهُورًا وَأُحِلَّتْ لِيَ الْغَنَائِمُ، وَلَمْ تَحِلَّ لِأَحَدٍ قَبْلِي، وَنُصِرْتُ بِالرُّعْبِ شَهْرًا، يُرْعَبُ مِنِّي الْعَدُوُّ مَسِيرَةَ شَهْرٍ. وَقِيلَ لِي : سَلْ تُعْطَهْ. فَاخْتَبَأْتُ دَعْوَتِي شَفَاعَةً لِأُمَّتِي، وَهِيَ نَائِلَةٌ مِنْكُمْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى مَنْ لَمْ يُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا "

It was narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I was given five things not given to any prophet before me: I was sent to the red and the black; the earth was made a place of prostration and a means of purification for me; war spoils were made lawful for me, which was not lawful for anyone before me; I was helped by fear that strikes in the heart of the enemy at a distance of a month's journey; and I was told: Ask and it will be given. So I kept my supplication as intercession for my nation, and it will reach those among you who do not associate anything with Allah.'

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، قَالَ :" قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَائِمَ حُنَيْنٍ بِالْجِعِرَّانَةِ ". قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فِي الْإِسْنَادِ

It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed the spoils of Hunayn at al-Ji'rranah.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّقِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ :" شَهِدْتُ فَتْحَ خَيْبَرَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَانْهَزَمَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ، فَوَقَعْنَا فِي رِحَالِهِمْ، فَابْتَدَرَ النَّاسُ مَا وَجَدُوا مِنْ جَزُورٍ. قَالَ : فَلَمْ يَكُنْ ذَلِكَ بِأَسْرَعَ مِنْ أَنْ فَارَتِ الْقُدُورُ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُكْفِئَتْ. قَالَ : ثُمَّ قَسَمَ بَيْنَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلَ لِكُلِّ عَشْرَةٍ شَاةً. قَالَ : وَكَانَ بَنُو فُلَانٍ مَعَهُ تِسْعَةً، وَكُنْتُ وَحْدِي فَالْتَفَتُّ إِلَيْهِمْ فَكُنَّا عَشْرَةً بَيْنَنَا شَاةٌ "، قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ يَقُولُ : عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ : كَأَنَّهُ يَقُولُ : إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَحْفَظْهُ . أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ وهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ، قَالَ : فَأُلِّفْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ : الصَّوَابُ عِنْدِي مَا قَالَ زَكَرِيَّا فِي الْإِسْنَادِ

It was narrated from Abu Abi Layla (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I witnessed the Conquest of Khaybar with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The polytheists were routed and we fell upon their belongings. The people rushed for the camels they found. Before long the pots were boiling, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them overturned. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed among us, giving one sheep for every ten men.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ نَجْدَةُ بَنُ عَامِرٍ L7874 إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ، فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ : " إِنَّكَ سَأَلْتَ عَنْ سَهْمِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى الَّذِي ذَكَرَ اللَّهُ، وَإِنَّا كُنَّانَرَى أَنَّ قَرَابَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُمْ، فَأَبَى ذَلِكَ عَلَيْنَا قَوْمُنَا "

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) wrote to Najdah ibn Amir in reply to his questions: 'You asked about the share of the close relatives mentioned by Allah — we used to think that the relatives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were they, but our people refused it to us.'

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَازِمٍ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" أَسْهَمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ لِلْفَارِسِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَسْهُمٍ، وَلِلرَّاجِلِ سَهْمًا "، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، نَحْوَهُ

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Khaybar gave the horseman three shares and the foot soldier one share.

أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ :" مَا شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَغْنَمًا إِلَّا قَسَمَ لِي، إِلا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، فَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ لِأَهْلِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ خَاصَّةً، وَكَانَ أَبُو مُوسَى وَأَبُو هُرَيْرَةً جَاءَا بَيْنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَخَيْبَرَ "

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I never attended a distribution of war spoils with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without receiving my share — except on the day of Khaybar, for it was exclusively for the people of Hudaybiyyah. Abu Musa and Abu Hurairah had arrived between Hudaybiyyah and Khaybar.'

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ خَلِيلٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَفْصٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ مَوْلَى آبِي اللَّحْمِ، قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ خَيْبَرَ وَأَنَا عَبْدٌ مَمْلُوكٌ فَأَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ خُرْثِيِّ الْمَتَاعِ، وَأَعْطَانِي سَيْفًا، فَقَالَ :" تَقَلَّدْ بِهَذَا "

It was narrated from Umayr, client of Abi al-Lahm (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: I witnessed Khaybar while I was an owned slave, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me some of the lesser goods and gave me a sword, saying: 'Wear this around your neck.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حُمْيَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ ، وَمَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْتُبَاعَ السِّهَامُ حَتَّى تُقْسَم "

It was narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet ﷺ that he forbade that shares of war spoils be sold before they are distributed.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَرْزُوقٍ مَوْلًى لِتُجِيبٍ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حَنَشٌ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : غَزَوْنَا الْمَغْرِبَ وَعَلَيْنَا رُوَيْفِعُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ فَافْتَتَحْنَا قَرْيَةً يُقَالُ لَهَا : جَرْبَةَ ، فَقَامَ فِينَا رُوَيْفِعُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ خَطِيبًا، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي لَا أَقُومُ فِيكُمْ إِلَّا بما سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَامَ فِينَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ حِينَ افْتَتَحْنَاهَا، فَقَالَ :" مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلَا يَأْتِيَنَّ شَيْئًا مِنَ السَّبْيِ حَتَّى يَسْتَبْرِئَهَا "

It was narrated from Ruwayfi' ibn Thabit al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he addressed the people and said: I only stand before you with what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who stood before us on the day of Khaybar when we conquered it and said: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not approach any captive woman until she has been declared clear of pregnancy.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ أَبِي عُمَرَ الشَّامِيِّ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى امْرَأَةً مُجِحَّةً يَعْنِي : حُبْلَى عَلَى بَابِ فُسْطَاطٍ ، فَقَالَ : " لَعَلَّهُ قَدْ أَلَمَّ بِهَا؟ ". قَالُوا : نَعَمْ. قَالَ :" لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَلْعَنَهُ لَعْنَةً تَدْخُلُ مَعَهُ قَبْرَهُ، كَيْفَ يُوَرِّثُهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ، وَكَيْفَ يَسْتَخْدِمُهُ وَهُوَ لَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ "

It was narrated from Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ saw a pregnant woman at the entrance of a tent and said: 'Perhaps he approached her?' They said: Yes. He said: 'I was about to curse him with a curse that would follow him into his grave — how would he inherit from her when it is not lawful for him, and how would he enslave her when it is not lawful for him.'

أَخْبَرَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قِرَاءَةً، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُنَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ : أَنَّ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ كَانَ فِي جَيْشٍ فَفُرِّقَ بَيْنَ الصِّبْيَانِ وَبَيْنَ أُمَّهَاتِهِمْ، فَرَآهُمْ يَبْكُونَ، فَجَعَلَ يَرُدُّ الصَّبِيَّ إِلَى أُمِّهِ. وَيَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" مَنْ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ الْوَالِدَةِ وَوَلَدِهَا، فَرَّقَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْأَحِبَّاءِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ "

It was narrated from Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was in an army and the children were separated from their mothers. He saw them crying, and he began returning each child to its mother, saying: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: whoever separates a mother from her child, Allah will separate him from his loved ones on the Day of Resurrection.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيُّ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ صَخْرِ بْنِ الْعَيْلَةِ ، قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ : الْغِيلَةِ . قَالَ : أَخَذْتُ عَمَّةَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، فَقَدِمْتُ بِهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَمَّتَهُ، فَقَالَ : " يَا صَخْرُ، إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ إِذَا أَسْلَمُوا، أَحْرَزُوا أَمْوَالَهُمْ وَدِمَاءَهُمْ، فَادْفَعْهَا إِلَيْهِ ". وَكَانَ مَاءٌ لِبَنِي سُلَيْمٍ، فَأَسْلَمُوا فَأَتَوْهُ فَسَأَلُوهُ ذَلِكَ، فَدَعَانِي، فَقَالَ : " يَا صَخْرُ، إِنَّالْقَوْمَ إِذَا أَسْلَمُوا، أَحْرَزُوا أَمْوَالَهُمْ وَدِمَاءَهُمْ، فَادْفَعْهُ إِلَيْهِمْ "فَدَفَعْتُهُ

It was narrated from Sakhr ibn al-Aylah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I captured the paternal aunt of al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah and brought her to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and al-Mughirah asked the Prophet ﷺ about his aunt. He said: 'O Sakhr, when people enter Islam they protect their wealth and blood, so return her to him.' And there was a water source belonging to Banu Sulaym — they entered Islam and came to him asking about it, and the Messenger ﷺ called me and said: 'O Sakhr, when people enter Islam they protect their wealth and blood, so return it to them.' So I returned it.

أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابِنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ :" بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَرِيَّةً فِيهَا ابْنُ عُمَر، فَغَنِمُوا إِبِلًا كَثِيرَةً، فَكَانَتْ سِهَامُهُمْ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ بَعِيرًا أَوْ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ بَعِيرًا وَنُفِّلُوا بَعِيرًا بَعِيرًا "

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out an expedition in which Ibn Umar was included, and they captured many camels. Their shares came to twelve camels each, or eleven camels, and they were given one extra camel each as a bonus.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَاأَغَارَ فِي أَرْضِ الْعَدُوِّ، نَفَّلَ الرُّبُعَ، وَإِذَا أَقْبَلَ رَاجِعًا، وَكُلُّ النَّاسِ، نَفَّلَ الثُّلُثَ "

It was narrated from Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he raided into enemy territory, would grant a bonus of one quarter; and when he was returning and all the people were together, he would grant a bonus of one third.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ جَارِيَةَ ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" نَفَّلَ الثُّلُثَ بَعْدَ الْخُمُسِ "

It was narrated from Habib ibn Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ granted a bonus of one third after the khums (one fifth).

أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ :" مَنْ قَتَلَ كَافِرًا، فَلَهُ سَلَبُهُ ". فَقَتَلَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَوْمَئِذٍ عِشْرِينَ، وَأَخَذَ أَسْلَابَهُمْ

It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever kills a disbeliever, he gets his spoils.' On that day Abu Talhah killed twenty and took their spoils.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ هُوَ : عُمَرُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : " بَارَزْتُ رَجُلًا فَقَتَلْتُهُ،فَنَفَّلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَلَبَهُ "

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I dueled a man and killed him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me his spoils.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ الْأَنْفَالَ وَيَقُولُ :" لِيَرُدَّ قَوِيُّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَلَى ضَعِيفِهِمْ "

It was narrated from Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ disliked giving extra spoils to individuals and said: 'Let the strong among the Muslims give back to the weak among them.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ :" أَدُّوا الْخِيَاطَ وَالْمَخِيطَ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْغُلُولَ فَإِنَّهُ عَارٌ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ "

It was narrated from Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ used to say: 'Return even the thread and the needle, and beware of unlawful acquisition from the spoils, for it is a disgrace for its doer on the Day of Resurrection.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ : ابْنُ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ هُوَ : ابْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَرْزُوقٍ مَوْلًى لِتُجِيبَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حَنَشٌ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : غَزَوْنَا الْمَغْرِبَ وَعَلَيْنَا رُوَيْفِعُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، فَافْتَتَحْنَا قَرْيَةً يُقَالُ لَهَا : جَرْبَةَ فَقَامَ فِينَا رُوَيْفِعُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ خَطِيبًا، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي لَا أَقُومُ فِيكُمْ إِلَّا مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَامَ فِينَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ حِينَ افْتَتَحْنَاهَا :" مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلا يَرْكَبَنَّ دَابَّةً مِنْ فَيْءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، حَتَّى إِذَا أَجْحَفَهَا أَوْ قَالَ : أَعْجَفَهَا، قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ : أَنَا أَشُكُّ فِيهِ رَدَّهَا ". وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، فَلَا يَلْبَسْ ثَوْبًا مِنْ فَيْءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخْلَقَهُ، رَدَّهُ فِيهِ "

It was narrated from Ruwayfi' ibn Thabit al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not ride a beast from the spoils of the Muslims until it becomes worn out, then return it; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not wear a garment from the spoils of the Muslims until it is worn out, then return it to the spoils.'
