Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاق الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ
فَظَفِرَ بِالْمُشْرِكِينَ فَأَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِي الْقَتْلِ حَتَّى قَتَلُوا الذُّرِّيَّةَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ :" مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ ذَهَبَ بِهِمْ الْقَتْلُ حَتَّى قَتَلُوا الذُّرِّيَّةَ؟ أَلا لا تُقْتَلَنَّ ذُرِّيَّةً ثَلَاثًا "

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Aswad ibn Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a campaign and were victorious over the polytheists. The people rushed to kill until they killed the children. This reached the Prophet ﷺ and he said: 'What is wrong with people that they went so far in killing that they killed the children? Beware: never kill a child.' He said it three times.
