أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ الْجَرْمِيِّ ، عَنِ الْجَارُودِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ، ضَالَّةُ الْم
ُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ، ضَالَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَقُ النَّارِ، لَا تَقْرَبَنَّهَا ". قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، اللُّقَطَةُ نَجِدُهَا؟. قَالَ :" أَنْشِدْهَا، وَلَا تَكْتُمْ، وَلَا تُغَيِّبْ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ رَبُّهَا، فَادْفَعْهَا إِلَيْهِ، وَإِلَّا، فَمَالُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ "

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Jarud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'A Muslim's stray animal is fuel for Hellfire — do not go near it.' A man said: O Messenger of Allah, what about found property? He said: 'Announce it, do not conceal it, do not take it away; if its owner comes, give it to him; otherwise it is Allah's wealth which He gives to whom He wills.'
