Hadith #880
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ قَالَ : رَأَى عُمَارَةُ ب
ْنُ رُوَيْبَةَ بِشْرَ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ رَافِعًا يَدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ : " قَبَّحَ اللَّهُ هَاتَيْنِ الْيَدَيْنِ، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَعَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، وَمَا يُشِيرُ إِلَّا بِإِصْبُعِهِ "

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Hasan ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw Bishr ibn Marwan on the pulpit raising his hands (in supplication during the khutbah). He said: 'May Allah deface these two hands! I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the pulpit — he would not do more than point with his finger like this.'
