حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عُبَ

يْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ :" لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَوْتَ : إِمَّا مُحْسِنًا، فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَزْدَادَ، إِحْسَانًا، وَإِمَّا مُسِيئًا، فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَسْتَعْتِبَ "

English Translation

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ☯ said: "Let none of you wish for death. If he is a doer of good, perhaps he will add to his good deeds; and if he is a wrongdoer, perhaps he will seek forgiveness."
