English Translation

It was narrated from Abu 'Ubayda, from Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: 'Whoever reads the Quran, let him also learn the obligatory shares of inheritance. If a Bedouin meets him and says: O Muhajir, do you read the Quran? If he says yes, he will ask: Do you know the laws of inheritance? If he says yes, that is more and better for him. But if he says no, the Bedouin will say: Then what virtue do you have over me?'
