English Translation

It was narrated that Bishr ibn 'Umar said: 'I asked Ibn Abi al-Zinad about a man who died leaving a daughter and a sister. He said: "The daughter gets half, and the sister gets what remains." And he said: My father informed me, from Kharija ibn Zayd, that Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) "used to make sisters residual heirs alongside daughters — giving them only what remained."'
