English Translation

It was narrated from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ma'qil that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the grandfather. He said: 'Which ancestor of yours is greatest?' I (the narrator) said: Adam. He said: 'Have you not heard the words of Allah Most High: "O Children of Adam" — meaning that Adam is called a grandfather (father) of all?'
