Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ وَكِيعٍ ، قَالَ : إِذَا كَانَا أَخَوَيْن

Body (Matn)

ِ، فَادَّعَى أَحَدُهُمَا أَخًا وَأَنْكَرَهُ الْآخَرُ؟ قَالَ : كَانَ ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، يَقُولُ :" هِيَ مِنْ سِتَّةٍ : لِلَّذِي لَمْ يَدَّعِ ثَلَاثَةٌ، وَلِلْمُدَّعِي سَهْمَانِ، وَلِلْمُدَّعَى سَهْمٌ "

English Translation

It was narrated from Waki' regarding two brothers where one claims a man as a brother and the other denies it: 'Ibn Abi Layla used to say: Divide it from six — the one who did not make the claim gets three, the one who made the claim gets two, and the claimant gets one.'
