English Translation

It was narrated from al-Harith, from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), that it was said: "O Messenger of Allah, your nation will be afflicted with trials after you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked — or he was asked — about the way out from them. He said: "The Mighty Book, {falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it, a revelation from the Wise, the Praiseworthy} (Quran 41:42). Whoever seeks guidance in other than it, Allah has led him astray. Whoever among the oppressors rules without it, Allah will break him. It is the wise remembrance, the clear light, and the straight path. In it is the account of those before you, news of what comes after you, and ruling on what is between you. It is the decisive word, not a jest. It is what the jinn, upon hearing it, could not refrain from saying: {Indeed, we have heard a wondrous Quran} (Quran 72:1). It does not wear out through much repetition, and its lessons never cease, and its wonders never end." 'Ali then said to al-Harith: "Take it with you, O blind one."
