Hadith #2604
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِ
ي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُول : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" تَعَلَّمُوا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَتَعَاهَدُوهُ، وَتَغَنَّوْا بِهِ وَاقْتَنُوهُ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ أَوْ : فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَهُوَ أَشَدُّ تَفَلُّتًا مِن الْمَخَاضِ فِي الْعُقُلِ "

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Uqba ibn 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Learn the Book of Allah, take care of it, recite it beautifully, and acquire it — for by Him in Whose hand is my soul (or: by Him in Whose hand is Muhammad's soul), it escapes more swiftly than pregnant she-camels from their hobbles."
