Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَيْفَعُ بْنُ عَبْدٍ الْكَلَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَيُّ سُورَةِ الْقُرْآنِ أَعْظَمُ؟ قَالَ :" قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ "، قَالَ : فَأَيُّ آيَةٍ فِي الْقُرْآنِ أَعْظَمُ؟ قَالَ : " آيَةُ الْكُرْسِ
يِّ : # اللَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ سورة البقرة آية 255 #، قَالَ : فَأَيُّ آيَةٍ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ تُحِبُّ أَنْ تُصِيبَكَ وَأُمَّتَكَ؟ قَالَ : خَاتِمَةُ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَزَائِنِ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ، مِنْ تَحْتِ عَرْشِهِ، أَعْطَاهَا هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ، لَمْ تَتْرُكْ خَيْرًا مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Ayfa' ibn 'Abd al-Kala'i in a mursal chain that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, which surah of the Quran is the greatest?" He ﷺ said: "Say: He is Allah, One (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad)." The man asked: "And which verse in the Quran is the greatest?" He ﷺ said: "The Verse of the Throne: 'Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining' [Al-Baqarah: 255]." The man said: "Which verse, O Prophet of Allah, would you most love to be bestowed upon you and your ummah?" He ﷺ said: "The concluding verses of Surah al-Baqarah, for they are from the treasures of the mercy of Allah, from beneath His Throne — He gave them to this ummah. They encompass every good of this world and the Hereafter."
