Hadith #2637

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الشَّعْبِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ :" لَقِيَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْجِنِّ، فَصَارَعَهُ فَصَرَعَهُ الْإِنْسِيُّ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الْإِنْسِيُّ : إِنِّي لَأَرَاكَ ضَئِيلًا شَخِيتًا، كَأَنَّ ذُرَيِّعَتَيْكَ ذُرَيِّعَتَا كَلْبٍ، فَكَذَلِكَ أَنْتُمْ مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ، أَمْ أَنْتَ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ كَذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ : لَا وَاللَّهِ، إِنِّي مِنْهُمْ لَضَلِيعٌ؟ وَلَكِنْ عَاوِدْنِي الثَّانِيَةَ، فَإِنْ صَرَعْتَنِي، عَلَّمْتُكَ شَيْئًا
يَنْفَعُكَ، فَعَاوَدَهُ، فَصَرَعَهُ، قَالَ : هاتِ عَلِّمْنِي، قَالَ : نَعَمْ، قَالَ : تَقْرَأُ # اللَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ سورة البقرة آية 255 #؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّكَ لَا تَقْرَؤُهَا فِي بَيْتٍ، إِلَّا خَرَجَ مِنْهُ الشَّيْطَانُ، لَهُ خَبَجٌ كَخَبَجِ الْحِمَارِ، ثُمَّ لَا يَدْخُلُهُ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : الضَّئِيلُ : الدَّقِيقُ، وَالشَّخِيتُ : الْمَهْزُولُ، وَالضَّلِيعُ : جَيِّدُ الْأَضْلَاع، وَالْخَبَجُ : الرِّيحُ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "A man from the Companions of Muhammad wrestled a jinn and threw the jinn down. The man said to the jinn: 'I see you are small and thin — your forearms are like a dog's forearms. Is that how you jinn all are, or is it only you?' The jinn said: 'No, by Allah, I am among the stout ones among them. But wrestle me again, and if you throw me down I will teach you something that will benefit you.' The man wrestled him again and threw him down. He said: 'Give it to me — teach me.' The jinn said: 'Yes. Do you recite the Verse of the Throne: "Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining" [Al-Baqarah: 255]?' He replied: 'Yes.' The jinn said: 'If you recite it in a house, the devil leaves it, breaking wind like a donkey, and does not re-enter it until morning.'" — Abu Muhammad said: "Ḍa'il means thin, shakhit means emaciated, ḍali' means well-ribbed, and khabaj means flatulence."
