Hadith #1088
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَن
ِ بْنِ سَابِطٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" مَنْ لَمْ يَمْنَعْهُ عَنْ الْحَجِّ حَاجَةٌ ظَاهِرَةٌ، أَوْ سُلْطَانٌ جَائِرٌ، أَوْ مَرَضٌ حَابِسٌ، فَمَاتَ وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ، فَلْيَمُتْ إِنْ شَاءَ يَهُودِيًّا ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ نَصْرَانِيًّا "

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ي said: 'Whoever is not prevented from performing Hajj by an obvious need, an unjust ruler, or a confining illness, then dies without having performed Hajj, let him die as a Jew or a Christian if he wishes.'
