Hadith #1239
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ الْعَّبَاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَلِيَبِيتَ بِمَكَّةَ لَيَالِيَ مِنًى مِنْ أَجْلِ سِقَايَتِهِ. فَأَذِنَ لَهُ ". حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، نَحْوَهُ
English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ي said: 'Allah made Mecca sacred on the day He created the heavens and the earth. It is sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Resurrection. Fighting in it was not lawful for anyone before me, and it was not made lawful for me except for one hour of the day. It is sacred by the sanctity of Allah until the Day of Resurrection.'
