أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ :" ضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَبْشَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ أَقْرَنَيْنِ، وَيُسَمِّي وَيُكَبِّرُ، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَذْبَحُهُمَا بِيَدِهِ وَاضِعًا عَلَى صِفَاحِهِمَا قَدَمَهُ "، قُلْتُ : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ

It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed two horned rams of mixed white and black color, pronouncing the name of Allah and saying Allahu Akbar. I saw him slaughter them with his own hand, placing his foot on their sides.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : ضَحَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكَبْشَيْنِ فِي يَوْمِ الْعِيدِ، فَقَالَ حِينَ وَجَّهَهُمَا : " إِنِّيوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِي فَطَرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ. إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَبِذَلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا مِنْكَ وَلَكَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأُمَّتِهِ "، ثُمَّ سَمَّى اللَّهَ وَكَبَّرَ وَذَبَحَ

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed two rams on the day of Eid. When he turned them toward the qiblah he said: 'I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, as a Hanif, and I am not of the polytheists. Indeed my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the Worlds. No partner has He, and with this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. O Allah, this is from You and for You, on behalf of Muhammad and his nation.' Then he named Allah, said Allahu Akbar, and slaughtered.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ ، حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي : ابْنَ يَزِيدَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي : ابْنَ أَبِي هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ، قَالَ :" مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ، فَلَا يُقَلِّمْ أَظْفَارَهُ، وَلَا يَحْلِقْ شَيْئًا مِنْ شَعْرِهِ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأُوَلِ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ "

It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever intends to sacrifice should not clip his nails or shave any of his hair during the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" إِذَا دَخَلَتْ الْعَشْرُ، وَأَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ، فَلَا يَمَسَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا "

It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'When the ten days enter and one of you intends to sacrifice, let him not touch any of his hair or nails.'

أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يُتَّقَى مِنْ الضَّحَايَا؟ قَالَ :" الْعَوْرَاءُ الْبَيِّنُ عَوَرُهَا، وَالْعَرْجَاءُ الْبَيِّنُ ظَلْعُهَا، وَالْمَرِيضَةُ الْبَيِّنُ مَرَضُهَا، وَالْعَجْفَاءُ الَّتِي لَا تُنْقِي "

It was narrated from al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked what should be avoided in sacrificial animals. He said: 'Four: the one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, the lame animal whose lameness is obvious, the sick animal whose sickness is obvious, and the emaciated animal that has no marrow in its bones.'

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ الْبَرَاءَ عَمَّا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْأَضَاحِيِّ، فَقَالَ :" أَرْبَعٌ لَا يُجْزِئْنَ : الْعَوْرَاءُ الْبَيِّنُ عَوَرُهَا، وَالْعَرْجَاءُ الْبَيِّنُ ظَلْعُهَا، وَالْمَرِيضَةُ الْبَيِّنُ مَرَضُهَا، وَالْكَسِيرُ الَّتِي لَا تُنْقِي ". قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِلْبَرَاءِ : فَإِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ فِي السِّنِّ نَقْصٌ، وَفِي الْأُذُنِ نَقْصٌ، وَفِي الْقَرْنِ نَقْصٌ، قَالَ : فَمَا كَرِهْتَ فَدَعْهُ، وَلَا تُحَرِّمْهُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ

Ubayd ibn Fayruz said: I asked al-Bara' about what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited from sacrificial animals. He said: 'Four animals do not suffice: the one-eyed animal whose defect is obvious, the lame animal whose lameness is obvious, the sick animal whose sickness is obvious, and the broken-boned animal that has no marrow.' He said: I said to al-Bara': I dislike defects in the teeth, ear, and horn. He said: Whatever you dislike, leave it, but do not declare it forbidden for anyone.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حُجَيَّةَ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، الْبَقَرَةُ؟ قَالَ : عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ، قُلْتُ : الْقَرْنُ؟ قَالَ : لَا يَضُرُّكَ. قَالَ : قُلْتُ : الْعَرَجُ؟ قَالَ : إِذَا بَلَغَتْ الْمَنْسَكَ. ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْنَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ "

It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked him: O Commander of the Faithful, what about a cow? He said: For seven. I said: What about a broken horn? He said: It does not harm you. He said: I said: What about lameness? He said: When it reaches the place of sacrifice. Then he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to examine the eye and the ear.'

أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ الصَّائِدِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْنَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ، وَأَنْ لَا نُضَحِّيَ بِمُقَابَلَةٍ وَلَا مُدَابَرَةٍ وَلَا خَرْقَاءَ، وَلَا شَرْقَاءَ، فَالْمُقَابَلَةُ : مَا قُطِعَ طَرَفُ أُذُنِهَا، وَالْمُدَابَرَةُ : مَا قُطِعَ مِنْ جَانِبِ الْأُذُنِ، وَالْخَرْقَاءُ : الْمَثْقُوبَةُ، وَالشَّرْقَاءُ : الْمَشْقُوقَةُ "

It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to examine the eye and the ear, and not to sacrifice a muqabalah, mudabarah, kharqa, or shaqqa. The muqabalah is one whose ear tip is cut off; the mudabarah is one cut from the side of the ear; the kharqa is the one with a pierced ear; and the shaqqa is the one with a split ear.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ بَعْجَةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَحَايَا بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ فَأَصَابَنِي جَذَعٌ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّهَاصَارَتْ لِي جَذَعَةً، فَقَالَ : " ضَحِّ بِهِ "

It was narrated from Uqbah ibn Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed sacrificial animals among his Companions and a jadha' fell to my share. I said: O Messenger of Allah, it has become a jadha'ah (young animal) for me. He said: 'Sacrifice it.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَمًا أَقْسِمُهَا عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ،فَقَسَمْتُهَا وَبَقِيَ مِنْهَا عَتُودٌ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ : " ضَحِّ بِهِ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : الْعَتُودُ : الْجَذَعُ مِنْ الْمَعْزِ

It was narrated from Uqbah ibn Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me sheep to distribute among my Companions for sacrifice, and a jadha' was left over. I reported it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: 'Sacrifice it yourself.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : نَحَرْنَا يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ سَبْعِينَ بَدَنَةً، الْبَدَنَةُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" اشْتَرِكُوا فِي الْهَدْيِ "

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever has the means to sacrifice and does not do so, let him not approach our place of prayer.'

أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ :" نَحَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ ". قِيلَ لِأَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ : تَقُولُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not sacrifice except a musinnah (adult animal). Unless it is difficult for you, then sacrifice a jadha' (young sheep).'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ، أَوْ قَالَ :" لَا تَأْكُلُوا لُحُومَ الْأَضَاحِيِّ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثٍ "

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not slaughter except a musinnah. If that is difficult, then slaughter a jadha' of sheep.'

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الطَّحَّانُ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ ، عَنْ نُبَيْشَةَ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ، قَالَ : " إِنَّاكُنَّا نَهَيْنَاكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوهَا فَوْقَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ كَيْ تَسَعَكُمْ، فَقَدْ جَاءَ اللَّهُ بِالسَّعَةِ، فَكُلُوا، وَادَّخِرُوا، وَائْتَجِرُوا ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ : ائْتَجِرُوا : اطْلُبُوا فِيهِ الْأَجْرَ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The best sacrifice is a horned ram, and it is better that it be slaughtered on the day of sacrifice.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْ لُحُومِ الْأَضَاحِيِّ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثٍ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْعَامُ الْقَابِلُ وَضَحَّى النَّاسُ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنْ كَانَتْ هَذِهِ الْأَضَاحِيُّ لَتَرْفُقُ بِالنَّاسِ، كَانُوا يَدَّخِرُونَ مِنْ لُحُومِهَا وَوَدَكِهَا. قَالَ : " فَمَا يَمْنَعُهُمْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ؟ " قُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، أَوَ لَمْ تَنْهَهُمْ عَامَ أَوَّلَ عَنْ أَنْ يَأْكُلُوا لُحُومَهَا فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَانَهَيْتُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ لِلْحَاضِرَةِ الَّتِي حَضَرَتْهُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ لِيَبُثُّوا لُحُومَهَا فِيهِمْ، فَأَمَّا الْآنَ، فَلْيَأْكُلُوا وَلْيَدَّخِرُوا "

It was narrated from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to sacrifice two horned rams of mixed white and black color. I saw him slaughter them with his own hand, reciting the name of Allah and saying Allahu Akbar, placing his foot on their sides.

أَخْبَرَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الزَّبِيدِيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ بِمِنًى :" أَصْلِحْ لَنَا مِنْ هَذَا اللَّحْمِ " فَأَصْلَحْتُ لَهُ مِنْهُ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ

It was narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed two rams; and he made sacrifice on behalf of those among his nation who were unable to sacrifice.

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا ، يَقُولُ : " إِنْكُنَّا لَنَتَزَوَّدُ مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : يَعْنِي : لُحُومَ الْأَضَاحِيِّ

It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to oversee the sacrificial camels, to distribute their meat, hides, and saddlecloths in charity, and not to give the butcher anything from them as payment.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَزُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا بُرْدَةَ بْنَ نِيَارٍ ضَحَّى قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، دَعَاهُ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ مَا فَعَلَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّمَاشَاتُكَ شَاةُ لَحْمٍ ". فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، عِنْدِي عَنَاقٌ جَذَعَةٌ مِنْ الْمَعْزِ هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ شَاتَيْنِ. قَالَ : " فَضَحِّ بِهَا، وَلَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : قُرِئَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ : وَمَنْ ذَبَحَ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ أَجْزَأَهُ

It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to oversee the sacrificial camels and to give their meat and hides in charity, and not to give anything from them to the butcher.' He said: 'We give him from our own share.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَنَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ بْنِ نِيَارٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُعِيدَ "

It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ sent him to oversee his sacrifice and commanded him to give away its meat, hides, and coverings in charity, and not to give the butcher anything from it.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" لَا فَرَعَ وَلَا عَتِيرَةَ "

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Eat, give as charity, and keep in store.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ وَكِيعِ بْنِ حُدُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ : لَقِيطِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّا كُنَّانَذْبَحُ فِي رَجَبٍ فَمَا تَرَى؟ قَالَ : " لَا بَأْسَ بِذَلِكَ ". قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : لَا أَدَعُهُ أَبَدًا

It was narrated from Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ prohibited keeping the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days, then he later permitted it.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتِ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ أَبِي خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُرْزٍ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ، قَالَ فِي الْعَقِيقَةِ :" عَنْ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ مُكَافِئَتَانِ، وَعَنْ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ "

It was narrated from Abu Said al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O people of Madinah, do not eat the meat of sacrifice beyond three days.' Then the people came to him and he said: 'Eat, give in charity, and store it, for a time of hardship came last year and I wanted you to feed those in need, but now times have eased, so eat, give charity, and store.'

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ :" مَعَ الْغُلَامِ عَقِيقَةٌ، فَأَهْرِيقُوا عَنْهُ الدَّمَ، وَأَمِيطُوا عَنْهُ الْأَذَى "

It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Eat from the sacrificial meat, store it, and give charity from it.'

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ سِبَاعِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُرْزٍ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" عَنْ الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ مِثْلَانِ، وَعَنْ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ "

It was narrated from Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I had forbidden you from visiting graves, but now visit them. I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days, but now keep it as long as you wish. I had forbidden you from nabidh (date wine) except in a waterskin, but now drink from all vessels, but do not drink anything intoxicating.'

أَخْبَرَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهِينَةٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ يُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ، وَيُحْلَقُ وَيُدَمَّى ". وَكَانَ قَتَادَةُ يَصِفُ الدَّمَ، فَيَقُولُ : إِذَا ذُبِحَتْ الْعَقِيقَةُ، تُؤْخَذُ صُوفَةٌ فَيُسْتَقْبَلُ بِهَا أَوْدَاجُ الذَّبِيحَةِ، ثُمَّ يُوضَعُ عَلَى يَافُوخِ الصَّبِيِّ حَتَّى إِذَا سَالَ شَبَهُ الْخَيْطِ، غُسِلَ رَأْسُهُ، ثُمَّ حُلِقَ بَعْدُ. حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، قَالَ : وَيُسَمَّى. قَالَ عَبْد اللَّهِ : وَلَا أُرَاهُ وَاجِبًا

It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اثْنَتَيْنِ : قَالَ : " إِنَّاللَّهَ كَتَبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْإِحْسَانَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءِ، فَإِذَا قَتَلْتُمْ فَأَحْسِنُوا الْقِتْلَةَ، وَإِذَا ذَبَحْتُمْ، فَأَحْسِنُوا الذَّبْحَ، وَلْيُحِدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ شَفْرَتَهُ، ثُمَّ لِيُرِحْ ذَبِيحَتَهُ "

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to eat of the sacrificial meat for three days and then prohibit it. He was asked about it and said: 'I had the opportunity to do so, and one who has the means should not exceed what is sufficient.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ امْرَأَةً كَانَتْ تَرْعَى لِآلِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ غَنَمًا بِسَلْعٍ، فَخَافَتْ عَلَى شَاةٍ مِنْهَا أَنْ تَمُوتَ، فَأَخَذَتْ حَجَرًا فَذَبَحَتْهَا بِهِ، وَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ ذُكِرَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِأَكْلِهَا "

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Eat the meat of your sacrificial animals for three days.' Then Jabir said: We returned to Madinah and someone told him this was from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he said: 'I thought it sufficient that we eat for three days.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، وَعَفَّانُ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعُشَرَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَمَا تَكُونُ الذَّكَاةُ إِلَّا فِي الْحَلْقِ وَاللَّبَّةِ؟ فَقَالَ :" لَوْ طَعَنْتَ فِي فَخِذِهَا، لَأَجْزَأَ عَنْكَ ". قَالَ حَمَّادٌ : حَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَى الْمُتَرَدِّي

It was narrated that a man from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade keeping the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days. After that, he said that it may be stored. Tawus asked: Why did he forbid it at first? He said: The daffah (people in need) came that year, so he wanted the people to feed them.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْمِنْهَالُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ ، يَقُولُ : خَرَجْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فِي طَرِيقٍ مِنْ طُرُقِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَإِذَا غِلْمَةٌ يَرْمُونَ دَجَاجَةً، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا؟ فَتَفَرَّقُوا. فَقَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" لَعَنَ مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِالْحَيَوَانِ "

It was narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: We used to preserve the trotters of sacrificial animals so that the Prophet ﷺ would eat from them after fifteen days. I asked: What made you do that? She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not used to eat the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days. Then he said: 'Eat, give charity, and store.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ تِعْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" نَهَى عَنْ صَبْرِ الدَّابَّةِ ". قَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ : لَوْ كَانَتْ دَجَاجَةً مَا صَبَرْتُهَا

It was narrated that Nubayshah al-Khair (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'We had forbidden you from eating the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days so that you might have abundance. Now Allah has given abundance, so eat, store, and give charity. Truly these days are the days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah.'

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" نَهَى عَنْ الْمُجَثَّمَةِ ". فَقَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : الْمُجَثَّمَةُ : الْمَصْبُورَةُ

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slaughtered the sacrificial animal with his own hand after the prayer on the day of sacrifice, saying: 'In the name of Allah, this is from me and from those of my nation who were unable to sacrifice.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ هُوَ ابْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنَّ قَوْمًا قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَأْتُونَا بِاللَّحْمِ لَا نَدْرِي أَذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ أَمْ لَا؟ فَقَالَ :" سَمُّوا أَنْتُمْ وَكُلُوا "وَكَانُوا حَدِيثَ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not slaughter except a musinnah, unless musinnah is unavailable, in which case slaughter a jadha' of sheep.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ ابْنِ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ : أَنَّ بَعِيرًا نَدَّ وَلَيْسَ فِي الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا خَيْلٌ يَسِيرَةٌ، فَرَمَاهُ رَجُلٌ بِسَهْمٍ، فَحَبَسَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّلِهَذِهِ الْبَهَائِمِ أَوَابِدَ كَأَوَابِدِ الْوَحْشِ، فَمَا غَلَبَكُمْ مِنْهَا، فَاصْنَعُوا بِهِ هَكَذَا "

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever can afford to sacrifice but does not sacrifice, let him not come near our place of prayer.'

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو هُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" مَنْ قَتَلَ عُصْفُورًا بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ، سَأَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ". قِيلَ : وَمَا حَقُّهُ؟ قَالَ : " أَنْ تَذْبَحَهُ فَتَأْكُلَهُ "

It was narrated from Abu Said al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade eating the meat of sacrificial animals after three days. Abu Said said: I held back from eating it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was told about that, so he said: 'I had forbidden it because of the daffah that came to you, but now eat, give charity, and store.'

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" ذَكَاةُ الْجَنِينِ ذَكَاةُ أُمِّهِ ". قِيلَ لِأَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ : يُؤْكَلُ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ

It was narrated that Abd al-Rahman ibn Khalid said: I heard Nafi inform Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited keeping the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days. So Ibn Umar said: 'It is true.' He said: Even now? He said: 'Even now.' His son objected, saying: But you yourself sometimes store it. He said: 'But I do not eat it.'

أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْأَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ "

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ commanded them on the day of sacrifice to slaughter with the sword.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ ابْنُ عَمِّ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْالْخَطْفَةِ، وَالْمُجَثَّمَةِ، وَالنُّهْبَةِ، وَعَنْ أَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ "

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The days of slaughter are three.' And he used to say: 'The best of days with Allah is the day of sacrifice.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْأَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ، وَكُلِّ ذِي مِخْلَبٍ مِنْ الطَّيْرِ "

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Prophet ﷺ prayed the prayer on the day of sacrifice with us, then he addressed us and commanded us to slaughter quickly, saying: 'Whoever slaughters before the prayer, let him slaughter again.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْمَرُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" نَهَى عَنْ جُلُودِ السِّبَاعِ أَنْ تُفْتَرَشَ ". أَخْبَرَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عن قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَحْوَهُ

It was narrated from al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The first thing we begin with on this day of ours is prayer, then we return and slaughter. Whoever does this has followed our Sunnah. And whoever slaughtered before prayer, that is meat he brought forward for his family and is nothing of the sacrifice.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ الْأَسْقِيَةِ، فَقَالَ : مَا أَدْرِي مَا أَقُولُ لَكَ، غَيْرَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ :" أَيُّمَا إِهَابٍ دُبِغَ فَقَدْ طَهُرَ "

It was narrated from al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that his uncle Abu Burdah sacrificed before the prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Your goat is only a goat for meat.' He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have a young she-goat better than a musinnah. He said: 'Sacrifice it, but it will not suffice for anyone after you.'

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ جُلُودِ الْمَيْتَةِ، فَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" دِبَاغُهَا طَهُورُهَا ". قِيلَ لِأَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : تَقُولُ بِهَذَا؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ، إِذَا كَانَ يُؤْكَلُ لَحْمُهُ

It was narrated from al-Bara ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from the Ansar sacrificed before the prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'Repeat your sacrifice.' He said: O Messenger of Allah, I only have a young she-goat. He said: 'It will suffice you, but will not suffice anyone else.'

أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ قُسَيْطٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْيُسْتَمْتَعَ بِجُلُودِ الْمَيْتَةِ إِذَا دُبِغَتْ "

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about what should be offered as a sacrifice. He said: 'That which is free of defect: neither lame, blind, one-eyed, old, nor extremely thin.'

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : مَاتَتْ شَاةٌ لِمَيْمُونَةَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :" لَوْ اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا؟ " قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ أَكْلُهَا ". أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، عَنْ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، نَحْوَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ. قِيلَ لِأَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ : مَا تَقُولُ فِي الثَّعَالِبِ إِذَا دُبِغَتْ؟ قَالَ : أَكْرَهُهَا

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The udhhiyah (sacrifice) and the aqiqah are prescribed, so sacrifice on behalf of every person.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنَيْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِمَا ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا قَالَ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْمُتْعَةِ النِّسَاءِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، وَعَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الْإِنْسِيَّةِ "

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The cow is from seven and the camel is from seven.'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَامَ رَجُلٌ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أُكِلَتْ الْحُمُرُ أَوْ أُفْنِيَتِ الْحُمُرُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أُفْنِيَتِ الْحُمُرُ أَوْ أُكِلَتْ الْحُمُرُ، " فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا فَنَادَى إِنَّاللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَيَانِكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ، فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ "

It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We slaughtered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Hudaybiyah; a camel was for seven and a cow was for seven.

حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَتْ :" أَكَلْنَا لَحْمَ فَرَسٍ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ "

It was narrated from Rafi ibn Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, we are meeting the enemy tomorrow and we have no knives. He said: 'Hasten or use what causes the blood to flow and the name of Allah is mentioned over it. Eat it, but do not use a tooth or claw. I will tell you why: the tooth is a bone and the claw is the knife of the Ethiopians.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْلُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ، وَأَذِنَ فِي لُحُومِ الْخَيْلِ "

It was narrated from Rafi ibn Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that a camel ran away at the time of the Prophet ﷺ and they did not have horses, so a man shot it with an arrow and it stopped. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Among these camels are some that are wild like wild animals; if one of them gets away from you, do to it what you would do to a wild animal.'

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ :" لَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ "

It was narrated from Shaddad ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed Allah has prescribed excellence in all things. So when you kill, kill well, and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let one of you sharpen his blade and give ease to his slaughtered animal.'

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : "نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النُّهْبَةِ ". قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : هَذَا فِي الْغَزْوِ إِذَا غَنِمُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْسَمَ

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man put his foot on the neck of a camel while sharpening his knife. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do you want to kill it twice? Why did you not sharpen your knife before you laid it down?'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّا بِأَرْضٍ تَكُونُ بِهَا الْمَخْمَصَةُ، فَمَا يَحِلُّ لَنَا مِنْ الْمَيْتَةِ؟ قَالَ :" إِذَا لَمْ تَصْطَبِحُوا، وَلَمْ تَغْتَبِقُوا، وَلَمْ تَخْتَفِئُوا بَقْلًا فَشَأْنُكُمْ بِهَا ". قَالَ : النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ بِالْحَاءِ، وَهَذَا قَالَ بِالْخَاءِ

It was narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that the knives be sharpened and hidden from the animals, and said: 'When one of you slaughters, let him hasten.'
