Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حُجَيَّةَ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، الْبَقَرَةُ؟ قَا
لَ : عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ، قُلْتُ : الْقَرْنُ؟ قَالَ : لَا يَضُرُّكَ. قَالَ : قُلْتُ : الْعَرَجُ؟ قَالَ : إِذَا بَلَغَتْ الْمَنْسَكَ. ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْنَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ "

English Translation
It was narrated from Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked him: O Commander of the Faithful, what about a cow? He said: For seven. I said: What about a broken horn? He said: It does not harm you. He said: I said: What about lameness? He said: When it reaches the place of sacrifice. Then he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to examine the eye and the ear.'
