حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّا

سٍ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ كُلُّ حِلْفٍ كَانَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَمْ يَزِدْهُ الْإِسْلَامُ إِلَّا شِدَّةً أَوْ حِدَّةً

English Translation
Hajjaj narrated to us, Sharik informed us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), attributed to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Every alliance (hilf) from the pre-Islamic era was only strengthened by Islam — it did not add to it except reinforcement.' — Meaning pre-existing pacts of mutual support and defense were honored, not abolished, by Islam.
