‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏خَلَفٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا حُوِّلَتْ الْقِبْلَةُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى ‏ ‏بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ ‏ ‏فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ ‏ { ‏وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ ‏}

Khalaf narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: When the qiblah was changed, it was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what about those who died while they were praying toward Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem)?' So Allah عز وجل revealed: 'And Allah would never let your faith go to waste' [al-Baqarah 2:143] — meaning your prayers toward Jerusalem.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُخَوَّلٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ ‏ ‏بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى ‏ ‏وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ‏ ‏وَقُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ‏

Ibrahim ibn Abi al-'Abbas narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Mukhawwal, from Muslim al-Batin, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast until we would say he will not break his fast, and he would not fast until we would say he will not fast. He never fasted a complete month other than Ramadan from the time he came to Madinah.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ طَاوُسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ ‏ ‏أَعْظُمٍ ‏ ‏الْجَبْهَةِ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى أَنْفِهِ وَالْيَدَيْنِ وَالرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَأَطْرَافِ الْأَصَابِعِ وَلَا ‏ ‏أَكُفَّ ‏ ‏الثِّيَابَ وَلَا الشَّعَرَ ‏

Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Wuhayb ibn Khalid informed us, 'Abdullah ibn Tawus narrated to us, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is no hijrah after the conquest (of Makkah), but there is jihad and intention. When you are called to go forth, then go forth.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْغَنَوِيُّ ‏ ‏مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏أَبَا نَضْرَةَ ‏ ‏يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَلَى هَذَا الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَتَعَوَّذُ ‏ ‏دُبُرَ ‏ ‏كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ الْفِتَنِ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْأَعْوَرِ الْكَذَّابِ ‏

Yahya ibn Ishaq narrated to us, al-Bara' ibn 'Abdullah al-Ghanawi narrated to us, from their own people, he said: I heard Abu Nadrah narrating, he said: Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) was on this pulpit saying: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in his khutbah: 'O mankind, fear your Lord, Who created you from a single soul...' [al-Nisa' 4:1], and the verse from Al 'Imran: 'O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared...' [3:102], and: 'Fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice...' [al-Ahzab 33:70-71].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُوسَى بْنُ دَوُادَ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَظْلَمَتِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ ‏

Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), from the Prophet ﷺ: 'Whoever is killed defending his rights (his property, family, or person), he is a martyr (shahid).'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُوسَى ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَهُ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بَعَثَ بِكِتَابِهِ إِلَى ‏ ‏كِسْرَى ‏ ‏مَعَ ‏ ‏رَجُلٍ ‏ ‏وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى عَظِيمِ ‏ ‏الْبَحْرَيْنِ ‏ ‏فَدَفَعَهُ عَظِيمُ ‏ ‏الْبَحْرَيْنِ ‏ ‏إِلَى ‏ ‏كِسْرَى ‏ ‏فَلَمَّا قَرَأَهُ خَرَقَهُ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَحَسِبْتُ أَنَّ ‏ ‏ابْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏فَدَعَا عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنْ يُمَزَّقُوا كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍ ‏

Musa narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Salih ibn Kaysan, from Ibn Shihab, that 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abdullah informed him that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) informed him that the Prophet ﷺ sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said: 'You are going to a people from the People of the Book. Let the first thing you call them to be the worship of Allah عز وجل. When they recognize Allah, inform them that Allah has made obligatory upon them five prayers each day and night. When they pray, inform them that Allah has made obligatory upon them charity (zakah) taken from their wealthy and given to their poor. When they obey, take from them — and avoid the finest of people's wealth.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏التَّمِيمِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏تَدَبَّرْتُ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَرَأَيْتُهُ مُخَوِّيًا فَرَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ إِبْطَيْهِ ‏

Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Tamimi, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: I observed the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. His standing was about equal in length to his bowing, and his rising from bowing was about equal to his bowing, and his prostration was about equal to his sitting between the two prostrations. — Meaning all positions were close in duration.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَكَرِيَّا ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا نَزَلَ مَرَّ ‏ ‏الظَّهْرَانِ ‏ ‏فِي عُمْرَتِهِ بَلَغَ ‏ ‏أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشًا ‏ ‏تَقُولُ مَا يَتَبَاعَثُونَ مِنْ ‏ ‏الْعَجَفِ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ لَوْ انْتَحَرْنَا مِنْ ‏ ‏ظَهْرِنَا ‏ ‏فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْ لَحْمِهِ وَحَسَوْنَا مِنْ مَرَقِهِ أَصْبَحْنَا غَدًا حِينَ نَدْخُلُ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ وَبِنَا ‏ ‏جَمَامَةٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ لَا تَفْعَلُوا وَلَكِنْ اجْمَعُوا لِي مِنْ أَزْوَادِكُمْ فَجَمَعُوا لَهُ وَبَسَطُوا ‏ ‏الْأَنْطَاعَ ‏ ‏فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى ‏ ‏تَوَلَّوْا ‏ ‏وَحَثَا كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ فِي ‏ ‏جِرَابِهِ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏حَتَّى دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَعَدَتْ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشٌ ‏ ‏نَحْوَ ‏ ‏الْحِجْرِ ‏ ‏فَاضْطَبَعَ ‏ ‏بِرِدَائِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ ‏ ‏لَا يَرَى الْقَوْمُ فِيكُمْ ‏ ‏غَمِيزَةً ‏ ‏فَاسْتَلَمَ الرُّكْنَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا ‏ ‏تَغَيَّبَ ‏ ‏بِالرُّكْنِ الْيَمَانِي مَشَى إِلَى الرُّكْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ فَقَالَتْ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشٌ ‏ ‏مَا يَرْضَوْنَ بِالْمَشْيِ أَنَّهُمْ لَيَنْقُزُونَ نَقْزَ الظِّبَاءِ فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَطْوَافٍ فَكَانَتْ سُنَّةً قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو الطُّفَيْلِ ‏ ‏وَأَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ ‏

Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Isma'il, meaning Ibn Zakariyya, narrated to us, from 'Abdullah, meaning Ibn 'Uthman, from Abu al-Tufayl, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Tawaf on his camel. Every time he came to the corner (al-Rukn, i.e., the Black Stone), he pointed to it with something in his hand and said 'Allahu Akbar.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُرَيْجٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَمْرِو بْنِ مَالِكٍ النُّكْرِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الْجَوْزَاءِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَتْ امْرَأَةٌ حَسْنَاءُ تُصَلِّي خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَكَانَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ يَسْتَقْدِمُ فِي الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ لِئَلَّا يَرَاهَا وَيَسْتَأْخِرُ بَعْضُهُمْ حَتَّى يَكُونَ فِي الصَّفِّ الْمُؤَخَّرِ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ نَظَرَ مِنْ تَحْتِ إِبْطَيْهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي شَأْنِهَا ‏ { ‏وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ ‏}

Surayj narrated to us, Nuh ibn Qays narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Malik al-Nukri, from Abu al-Jawza', from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: There was a beautiful woman who used to pray behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Some people would step forward to the first row so they would not see her, and others would stay behind so that when they bowed, they could look at her from under their arms. So Allah عز وجل revealed: 'And We have already known those who precede among you and We have already known those who lag behind' [al-Hijr 15:24].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُرَيْجٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبَّادٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏هِلَالٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏امْرَأَةً ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏الْيَهُودِ ‏ ‏أَهْدَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏شَاةً مَسْمُومَةً فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكِ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتِ قَالَتْ أَحْبَبْتُ ‏ ‏أَوْ أَرَدْتُ ‏ ‏إِنْ كُنْتَ نَبِيًّا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيُطْلِعُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ نَبِيًّا أُرِيحُ النَّاسَ مِنْكَ ‏

Surayj narrated to us, 'Abbad narrated to us, from Hilal, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that a Jewish woman gifted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a poisoned sheep. He ﷺ sent for her and asked: 'What made you do what you did?' She said: 'I wanted to know if you were a prophet — then Allah would inform you. And if you were not, I would relieve the people of you.' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forgive her and did not punish her.

‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِذَا وَجَدَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا ‏ ‏احْتَجَمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَسَافَرَ مَرَّةً فَلَمَّا أَحْرَمَ وَجَدَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا ‏ ‏فَاحْتَجَمَ ‏

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever he felt the effect of that (poison), would have himself cupped. Once he traveled, and when he entered ihram, he felt its effect, so he had himself cupped. — This is a continuation of the previous hadith about the poisoned sheep.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حُسَيْنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏جَدِّهِ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَقْطَعَ ‏ ‏بِلَالَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ الْمُزَنِيَّ ‏ ‏مَعَادِنَ ‏ ‏الْقَبَلِيَّةِ ‏ ‏جَلْسِيَّهَا ‏ ‏وَغَوْرِيَّهَا ‏ ‏وَحَيْثُ يَصْلُحُ الزَّرْعُ مِنْ قُدْسٍ وَلَمْ يُعْطِهِ حَقَّ مُسْلِمٍ وَكَتَبَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ‏ ‏هَذَا مَا أَعْطَى ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ ‏ ‏رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بِلَالَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ الْمُزَنِيَّ ‏ ‏أَعْطَاهُ مَعَادِنَ ‏ ‏الْقَبَلِيَّةِ ‏ ‏جَلْسِيَّهَا ‏ ‏وَغَوْرِيَّهَا ‏ ‏وَحَيْثُ يَصْلُحُ الزَّرْعُ مِنْ قُدْسٍ وَلَمْ يُعْطِهِ حَقَّ مُسْلِمٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حُسَيْنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏ثَوْرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ‏ ‏مَوْلَى ‏ ‏بَنِي الدِّيلِ بْنِ بَكْرِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِثْلَهُ ‏

Husayn narrated to us, Abu Uways narrated to us, Kathir ibn 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn 'Awf al-Muzani narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allocated a piece of land to Bilal ibn al-Harith al-Muzani — meaning he gave him uncultivated land as a grant to develop.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُرَيْجٌ ‏ ‏وَيُونُسُ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَأَصْحَابَهُ ‏ ‏اعْتَمَرُوا مِنْ ‏ ‏جِعِرَّانَةَ ‏ ‏فَرَمَلُوا ‏ ‏بِالْبَيْتِ ‏ ‏ثَلَاثًا وَمَشَوْا أَرْبَعًا ‏

Surayj and Yunus narrated to us, they said: Hammad, meaning Ibn Salamah, narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman, from Abu al-Tufayl, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined Dhuhr and 'Asr, and Maghrib and 'Isha, at Jam' (Muzdalifah). — This was during Hajj.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُرَيْجٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءٍ الْعَطَّارِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏يَتَصَدَّقُ بِدِينَارٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَنِصْفُ دِينَارٍ ‏

Surayj narrated to us, Hammad, meaning Ibn Salamah, narrated to us, from 'Ata' al-'Attar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'He gives one dinar, or half a dinar in charity, or a handful of wheat, or a handful of barley, or a handful of dates as expiation — whoever has intercourse with his wife during her menstruation.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي حَرْمَلَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏كُرَيْبٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ ‏ ‏بَعَثَتْهُ إِلَى ‏ ‏مُعَاوِيَةَ ‏ ‏بِالشَّامِ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَقَدِمْتُ ‏ ‏الشَّامَ ‏ ‏فَقَضَيْتُ حَاجَتَهَا وَاسْتَهَلَّ عَلَيَّ رَمَضَانُ وَأَنَا ‏ ‏بِالشَّامِ ‏ ‏فَرَأَيْنَا الْهِلَالَ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ ثُمَّ قَدِمْتُ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةَ ‏ ‏فِي آخِرِ الشَّهْرِ فَسَأَلَنِي ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ مَتَى رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَقُلْتُ رَأَيْنَاهُ لَيْلَةَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ رَأَيْتَهُ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ وَرَآهُ النَّاسُ وَصَامُوا وَصَامَ ‏ ‏مُعَاوِيَةُ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ لَكِنَّا رَأَيْنَاهُ لَيْلَةَ السَّبْتِ ‏ ‏فَلَا نَزَالُ نَصُومُ حَتَّى نُكَمِّلَ ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ ‏ ‏نَرَاهُ فَقُلْتُ أَوَلَا ‏ ‏تَكْتَفِي بِرُؤْيَةِ ‏ ‏مُعَاوِيَةَ ‏ ‏وَصِيَامِهِ فَقَالَ لَا هَكَذَا أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏

Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Hashimi narrated to us, Isma'il, meaning Ibn Ja'far, narrated to us, he said: Muhammad, meaning Ibn Abi Harmalah, informed me, from Kurayb, that Umm al-Fadl bint al-Harith sent him to Mu'awiyah in Sham. He said: 'I arrived in Sham and completed her errand. The crescent of Ramadan was sighted while I was in Sham, and we saw the crescent on Friday night. Then I came to Madinah at the end of the month. Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) asked me about the crescent and said: When did you sight it? I said: We saw it on Friday night. He said: Did you see it yourself? I said: Yes, and the people saw it, and they fasted, and Mu'awiyah fasted. He said: But we saw it on Saturday night, and we will continue fasting until we complete thirty or see it. I said: Is the sighting of Mu'awiyah and his fasting not sufficient for you? He said: No, this is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us.' — Each region follows its own moon sighting.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏إِسْمَاعِيلُ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏مَنْ يُرِدْ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهُّ فِي الدِّينِ ‏

Sulayman narrated to us, he said: Isma'il informed us, he said: 'Abdullah ibn Sa'id ibn Abi Hind informed me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Healing is in three things: a drink of honey, a slash of a cupping instrument, and cauterization with fire. And I forbid my ummah from cauterization.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏ثَوْرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَلْتَفِتُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا وَلَا ‏ ‏يَلْوِي ‏ ‏عُنُقَهُ ‏

Ibrahim ibn Ishaq narrated to us, al-Fadl ibn Musa narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn Sa'id ibn Abi Hind, he said: Thawr narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform 'aqiqah — slaughtering a ram on the seventh day for each of his grandsons al-Hasan and al-Husayn.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُرَيْجٌ ‏ ‏وَيُونُسُ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَأَصْحَابَهُ ‏ ‏اعْتَمَرُوا مِنْ ‏ ‏جِعِرَّانَةَ ‏ ‏فَاضْطَبَعُوا أَرْدِيَتَهُمْ تَحْتَ آبَاطِهِمْ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏جَعَلُوا أَرْدِيَتَهُمْ قَالَ ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏وَقَذَفُوهَا عَلَى عَوَاتِقِهِمْ الْيُسْرَى ‏

Surayj and Yunus narrated to us, they said: Hammad, meaning Ibn Salamah, narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Tawaf during the Farewell Pilgrimage on a camel, touching the corner (Black Stone) with a curved stick (mihjan).

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُرَيْجٌ ‏ ‏وَيُونُسُ ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَيُّوبَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشًا ‏ ‏قَالَتْ إِنَّ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدًا ‏ ‏وَأَصْحَابَهُ قَدْ وَهَنَتْهُمْ حُمَّى ‏ ‏يَثْرِبَ ‏ ‏فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لِعَامِهِ الَّذِي اعْتَمَرَ فِيهِ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ ‏ ‏ارْمُلُوا ‏ ‏بِالْبَيْتِ ‏ ‏ثَلَاثًا لِيَرَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ قُوَّتَكُمْ فَلَمَّا ‏ ‏رَمَلُوا ‏ ‏قَالَتْ ‏ ‏قُرَيْشٌ ‏ ‏مَا وَهَنَتْهُمْ ‏

Surayj and Yunus narrated to us, they said: Hammad, meaning Ibn Salamah, narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that Quraysh said: 'Muhammad and his companions have been weakened by the fever of Yathrib.' So the Prophet ﷺ commanded them to perform raml (jogging) in the first three circuits to show the polytheists their strength, and to walk between the two Yemeni corners where the polytheists could not see them.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ ‏ ‏جِبْرِيلَ ‏ ‏ذَهَبَ ‏ ‏بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ ‏ ‏إِلَى ‏ ‏جَمْرَةِ الْعَقَبَةِ ‏ ‏فَعَرَضَ لَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَرَمَاهُ بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ ‏ ‏فَسَاخَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ أَتَى ‏ ‏الْجَمْرَةَ الْوُسْطَى ‏ ‏فَعَرَضَ لَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَرَمَاهُ بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ ‏ ‏فَسَاخَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ أَتَى ‏ ‏الْجَمْرَةَ الْقُصْوَى ‏ ‏فَعَرَضَ لَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَرَمَاهُ بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ ‏ ‏فَسَاخَ ‏ ‏فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ ‏ ‏أَنْ يَذْبَحَ ابْنَهُ ‏ ‏إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ يَا ‏ ‏أَبَتِ أَوْثِقْنِي لَا أَضْطَرِبُ فَيَنْتَضِحَ عَلَيْكَ ‏ ‏مِنْ دَمِي إِذَا ذَبَحْتَنِي فَشَدَّهُ فَلَمَّا أَخَذَ ‏ ‏الشَّفْرَةَ ‏ ‏فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَذْبَحَهُ نُودِيَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ‏ { ‏أَنْ يَا ‏ ‏إِبْرَاهِيمُ ‏ ‏قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ‏}

Yunus narrated to us, Hammad informed us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Jibril (عليه السلام) went with me to the Sidr tree (al-Sidrah al-Muntaha) at the boundary, and it was covered in colors that I do not know.' He also said: 'I was then taken into Paradise, and in it were jeweled enclosures and its soil was musk.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏الْحَجَرُ الْأَسْوَدُ مِنْ الْجَنَّةِ وَكَانَ أَشَدَّ بَيَاضًا مِنْ الثَّلْجِ حَتَّى سَوَّدَتْهُ خَطَايَا أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ ‏

Yunus narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Black Stone is from Paradise, and it was whiter than milk, but the sins of the children of Adam turned it black.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَيُبْعَثَنَّ الْحَجَرُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَهُ عَيْنَانِ يُبْصِرُ بِهِمَا وَلِسَانٌ يَنْطِقُ بِهِ وَيَشْهَدُ عَلَى مَنْ ‏ ‏اسْتَلَمَهُ ‏ ‏بِحَقٍّ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُؤَمَّلٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ‏ ‏فَذَكَرَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ يُبْعَثُ الرُّكْنُ ‏

Yunus narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The Black Stone will surely be raised on the Day of Resurrection with two eyes by which it sees and a tongue with which it speaks, testifying for whoever touched it in truth.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏التَّمِيمِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَقَدْ ‏ ‏أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيَنْزِلُ عَلَيَّ بِهِ قُرْآنٌ أَوْ وَحْيٌ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَائِلُ هَذَا ‏

Aswad ibn 'Amir narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Tamimi, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: 'I was commanded to use the siwak to such an extent that I thought Quran or revelation would be sent down about it.' — Meaning the Prophet ﷺ emphasized siwak so strongly.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ ‏ ‏الم تَنْزِيلُ ‏ ‏السَّجْدَةَ ‏ ‏وَهَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنْ الدَّهْرِ ‏

Aswad ibn 'Amir narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Prophet ﷺ used to recite in the Fajr prayer on Fridays: 'Alif Lam Mim. The revelation of the Book...' [al-Sajdah] and 'Has there come upon man a period of time...' [al-Insan].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏شُعْبَةَ ‏ ‏مَوْلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏كَانَ إِذَا اغْتَسَلَ مِنْ الْجَنَابَةِ أَفْرَغَ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى فَغَسَلَهَا سَبْعًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهَا فِي الْإِنَاءِ فَنَسِيَ مَرَّةً كَمْ أَفْرَغَ عَلَى يَدِهِ فَسَأَلَنِي كَمْ أَفْرَغْتُ فَقُلْتُ لَا أَدْرِي فَقَالَ لَا أُمَّ لَكَ ‏ ‏وَلِمَ لَا تَدْرِي ثُمَّ ‏ ‏تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ ‏ ‏يُفِيضُ ‏ ‏الْمَاءَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَجَسَدِهِ قَالَ هَكَذَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَتَطَهَّرُ ‏ ‏يَعْنِي يَغْتَسِلُ ‏

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhi'b informed us, from Shu'bah, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), when performing ghusl from janabah, would pour with his right hand over his left and wash them, then wash his private parts, then perform wudu' as for prayer, then pour water over his head three times and let it run over his body, then wash his feet. — This was the Sunnah method of ghusl.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَشِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏ { ‏وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ ‏} ‏قَالَ أَتَى النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الصَّفَا ‏ ‏فَصَعِدَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَادَى يَا ‏ ‏صَبَاحَاهْ فَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ بَيْنَ رَجُلٍ يَجِيءُ إِلَيْهِ وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ يَبْعَثُ رَسُولَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَا ‏ ‏بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ‏ ‏يَا ‏ ‏بَنِي فِهْرٍ ‏ ‏يَا ‏ ‏بَنِي لُؤَيٍّ ‏ ‏أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ خَيْلًا ‏ ‏بِسَفْحِ ‏ ‏هَذَا الْجَبَلِ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُغِيرَ عَلَيْكُمْ صَدَّقْتُمُونِي قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ ‏ ‏فَإِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو لَهَبٍ ‏ ‏تَبًّا لَكَ سَائِرَ الْيَوْمِ أَمَا دَعَوْتَنَا إِلَّا لِهَذَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏ { ‏تَبَّتْ ‏ ‏يَدَا ‏ ‏أَبِي لَهَبٍ ‏ ‏وَتَبَّ ‏ }

'Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: When Allah عز وجل revealed: 'And warn your closest kindred' [al-Shu'ara' 26:214], the Prophet ﷺ went out and climbed upon al-Safa and called out: 'O morning danger!' (Ya sabahah!) — a distress call. They gathered and he said: 'If I told you that horsemen were coming from behind this mountain, would you believe me?' They said: 'We have never known you to tell a lie.' He ﷺ said: 'Then I am a warner to you before a severe punishment.' Abu Lahab said: 'May you perish for the rest of the day! Is this why you gathered us?' So Allah revealed: 'May the hands of Abu Lahab perish, and may he perish' [al-Masad 111:1].

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةُ ‏ ‏مَوْلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏زَعَمَ أَنَّ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَهُ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَسَمَ غَنَمًا ‏ ‏يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ‏ ‏فِي أَصْحَابِهِ وَقَالَ اذْبَحُوهَا لِعُمْرَتِكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْكُمْ فَأَصَابَ ‏ ‏سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ‏ ‏تَيْسٌ ‏

Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, he said: 'Ikrimah, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, informed me — he claimed that Ibn 'Abbas informed him — that the Prophet ﷺ divided the spoils of Hunayn. He gave the new converts (al-mu'allafat qulubuhum) gifts to soften their hearts toward Islam, while the Ansar did not receive the same. The Ansar spoke among themselves about this, so the Prophet ﷺ gathered them and said: 'Are you not pleased that the people go with sheep and camels while you return with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to your homes? If the people took one valley and the Ansar took another, I would take the valley of the Ansar.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏كَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ الْفُرَافِصَةِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏هُوَ ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ‏ ‏وَأَنَا قَدْ رَأْيَتُهُ فِي طَرِيقٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيَّ وَأَنَا صَبِيٌّ ‏ ‏رَفَعَهُ إِلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَوْ أَسْنَدَهُ إِلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَاحِبُ ‏ ‏الْبَصْرِيِّ ‏ ‏أَسْنَدَهُ إِلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏وَحَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ‏ ‏وَنَافِعُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ‏ ‏الْمِصْرِيَّانِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏قَيْسِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏حَنَشٍ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏وَلَا أَحْفَظُ حَدِيثَ بَعْضِهِمْ عَنْ بَعْضٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏كُنْتُ ‏ ‏رَدِيفَ ‏ ‏النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ يَا غُلَامُ ‏ ‏أَوْ يَا ‏ ‏غُلَيِّمُ ‏ ‏أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ يَنْفَعُكَ اللَّهُ بِهِنَّ فَقُلْتُ بَلَى فَقَالَ ‏ ‏احْفَظْ اللَّهَ يَحْفَظْكَ احْفَظْ اللَّهَ تَجِدْهُ أَمَامَكَ تَعَرَّفْ إِلَيْهِ فِي الرَّخَاءِ يَعْرِفْكَ فِي الشِّدَّةِ وَإِذَا سَأَلْتَ فَاسْأَلْ اللَّهَ وَإِذَا اسْتَعَنْتَ فَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ قَدْ جَفَّ الْقَلَمُ بِمَا هُوَ ‏ ‏كَائِنٌ ‏ ‏فَلَوْ أَنَّ الْخَلْقَ كُلَّهُمْ جَمِيعًا أَرَادُوا أَنْ يَنْفَعُوكَ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَكْتُبْهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ لَمْ يَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِنْ أَرَادُوا أَنْ يَضُرُّوكَ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَكْتُبْهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ لَمْ يَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِ وَاعْلَمْ أَنَّ فِي الصَّبْرِ عَلَى مَا تَكْرَهُ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا وَأَنَّ النَّصْرَ مَعَ الصَّبْرِ وَأَنَّ الْفَرَجَ مَعَ الْكَرْبِ ‏ ‏وَأَنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ‏

'Abdullah ibn Yazid narrated to us, Kahmas ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj ibn al-Furafisah — Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: He is 'Abdullah ibn Yazid, and I have seen him on the road and greeted him — from Abi Hazrah Ya'qub ibn Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever takes an image, Allah will punish him on the Day of Resurrection until he blows a soul into it, and he will never be able to do so. Whoever claims to have heard something he did not hear, his ears will be sealed with molten lead on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever lies about a dream he did not have will be required to tie a knot between two barley grains, and he will never be able to do so.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْأَشْجَعِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏الْحَسَنِ الْعُرَنِيِّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏جِئْتُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ مِنْ ‏ ‏بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ‏ ‏عَلَى حِمَارٍ وَالنَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ فَأَرْخَيْنَاهُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا ‏ ‏يَرْعَى فَلَمْ ‏ ‏يَقْطَعْ ‏ ‏قَالَ وَجَاءَتْ ‏ ‏جَارِيَتَانِ ‏ ‏مِنْ ‏ ‏بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ‏ ‏تَسْتَبِقَانِ ‏ ‏فَفَرَعَ ‏ ‏النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏بَيْنَهُمَا فَلَمْ ‏ ‏يَقْطَعْ ‏ ‏وَسَقَطَ جَدْيٌ فَلَمْ ‏ ‏يَقْطَعْ ‏

Al-Ashja'i narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from al-Hasan al-'Urani, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: I came with a boy from Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib on a donkey while the Prophet ﷺ was praying. We dismounted and left the donkey grazing in front of the row. Then a girl from Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib came and entered between two men in the row, and that did not invalidate the prayer of any of them.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُفْيَانُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ نِسَاءِ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏اسْتَحَمَّتْ مِنْ ‏ ‏جَنَابَةٍ ‏ ‏فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَسْتَحِمُّ مِنْ ‏ ‏فَضْلِهَا ‏ ‏فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي اغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ ‏

'Abdullah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that one of the wives of the Prophet ﷺ bathed from janabah (ritual impurity). Then the Prophet ﷺ came and performed wudu' with her leftover water. She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I was in a state of janabah.' He ﷺ said: 'Water does not become impure.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْمَاءُ لَا يُنَجِّسُهُ شَيْءٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏فِي حَدِيثِهِ حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ ‏ ‏وَكِيعٌ ‏ ‏فِي الْمُصَنَّفِ عَنْ ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُ بَعْدُ عَنْ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏

Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Simak ibn Harb, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Water is not made impure by anything.' — 'Abdullah (the compiler) said: My father was asked about this and he cited it as evidence that water is inherently pure.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ وَأَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏حَجَّاجٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مِثْلَهُ ‏

'Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, Ibn Abi Layla narrated to us, from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'An 'umrah in Ramadan equals a Hajj.' — Meaning in reward, not in replacing the obligation of Hajj.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏فَقَالَ يَا ‏ ‏أَبَا الْعَبَّاسِ ‏ ‏إِنِّي رَجُلٌ أُصَوِّرُ هَذِهِ الصُّوَرَ وَأَصْنَعُ هَذِهِ الصُّوَرَ فَأَفْتِنِي فِيهَا قَالَ ادْنُ مِنِّي فَدَنَا مِنْهُ حَتَّى وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ قَالَ أُنَبِّئُكَ بِمَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَقُولُ ‏ ‏كُلُّ مُصَوِّرٍ فِي النَّارِ يُجْعَلُ لَهُ بِكُلِّ صُورَةٍ صَوَّرَهَا نَفْسٌ تُعَذِّبُهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا فَاجْعَلْ الشَّجَرَ وَمَا لَا نَفْسَ لَهُ ‏

'Abd al-A'la ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, from Yahya, meaning Ibn Abi Ishaq, from Sa'id ibn Abi al-Hasan, who said: A man came to Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) and said: 'O Abu al-'Abbas, I am a man who earns his living by making these images.' Ibn 'Abbas said: 'I will not tell you except what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard him say: Whoever makes an image, Allah will punish him until he breathes a soul into it, and he will never be able to breathe a soul into it.' The man became greatly distressed, so Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Woe to you! If you must do it, make trees and anything that does not have a soul.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏جَعْفَرٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يَزِيدَ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏كَتَبَ ‏ ‏نَجْدَةُ ‏ ‏إِلَى ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ خَمْسِ خِلَالٍ فَقَالَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏يُكَاتِبُ ‏ ‏الْحَرُورِيَّةَ ‏ ‏وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ أَكْتُمَ عِلْمِي لَمْ أَكْتُبْ إِلَيْهِ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ ‏ ‏نَجْدَةُ ‏ ‏أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَأَخْبِرْنِي هَلْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَغْزُو بِالنِّسَاءِ مَعَهُ وَهَلْ كَانَ ‏ ‏يَضْرِبُ ‏ ‏لَهُنَّ ‏ ‏بِسَهْمٍ ‏ ‏وَهَلْ كَانَ يَقْتُلُ الصِّبْيَانَ وَمَتَى ‏ ‏يَنْقَضِي يُتْمُ الْيَتِيمِ وَأَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ ‏ ‏الْخُمُسِ ‏ ‏لِمَنْ هُوَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَدْ كَانَ ‏ ‏يَغْزُو بِالنِّسَاءِ مَعَهُ فَيُدَاوِينَ الْمَرْضَى وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَضْرِبُ لَهُنَّ ‏ ‏بِسَهْمٍ ‏ ‏وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ ‏ ‏يُحْذِيهِنَّ مِنْ الْغَنِيمَةِ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمْ يَكُنْ يَقْتُلُ الصِّبْيَانَ وَلَا تَقْتُلْ الصِّبْيَانَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ تَعْلَمُ مَا عَلِمَ ‏ ‏الْخَضِرُ ‏ ‏مِنْ الصَّبِيِّ الَّذِي قَتَلَهُ فَتَقْتُلَ الْكَافِرَ وَتَدَعَ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَكَتَبْتَ تَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ يُتْمِ الْيَتِيمِ مَتَى ‏ ‏يَنْقَضِي ‏ ‏وَلَعَمْرِي إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ تَنْبُتُ لِحْيَتُهُ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفُ الْأَخْذِ لِنَفْسِهِ فَإِذَا كَانَ يَأْخُذُ لِنَفْسِهِ مِنْ صَالِحِ مَا يَأْخُذُ النَّاسُ فَقَدْ ذَهَبَ الْيُتْمُ وَأَمَّا ‏ ‏الْخُمُسُ ‏ ‏فَإِنَّا كُنَّا نُرَى أَنَّهُ لَنَا فَأَبَى ذَلِكَ عَلَيْنَا قَوْمُنَا ‏

Muhammad ibn Maymun al-Za'farani narrated to us, he said: Ja'far narrated to me, from his father, from Yazid ibn Hurmuz, who said: Najdah wrote to Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) asking him about five matters. Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Were it not that I fear concealing knowledge, I would not have written to him.' Regarding the share of near relatives: 'We used to claim it was for us, but our people refused.' Regarding taking women on military expeditions: 'They did go out to tend the wounded and give water.' Regarding killing children of polytheists: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not kill them, and you should not kill them — unless you know of them as the servant of Khidr knew.' Regarding the slave: 'His share was allocated to him.' Regarding the khums (fifth of spoils): 'We said it was for us, but our people refused.'

‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَرَأْتُ عَلَى ‏ ‏عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏طَاوُسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ إِذَا قَدِمَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ يَقُولُ ‏ ‏اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ ‏ ‏قَيَّامُ ‏ ‏السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ وَقَوْلُكَ الْحَقُّ وَوَعْدُكَ الْحَقُّ وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ ‏ ‏أَنَبْتُ ‏ ‏وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَأَخَّرْتُ وَأَسْرَرْتُ وَأَعْلَنْتُ أَنْتَ إِلَهِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ ‏

He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i read to 'Abd al-Rahman, from Malik, from Abu al-Zubayr al-Makki, from Tawus, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he arrived in a city, would not pray the traveler's prayer until he departed from it. — Another narration says he would shorten the prayer as long as he was traveling.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْد اللَّهِ ‏ ‏و حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زَائِدَةَ ‏ ‏وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏زَائِدَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ ‏

'Abdullah narrated to us, and my father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Za'idah — and 'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us — from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Prophet ﷺ married Maymunah while he was in a state of ihram. — However, other narrations indicate he married her while he had exited ihram.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سِمَاكٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ مِنْ الشِّعْرِ حُكْمًا وَإِنَّ مِنْ ‏ ‏الْبَيَانِ ‏ ‏سِحْرًا ‏

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, in some poetry there is wisdom, and in some eloquent speech there is sorcery.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَائِشَةَ ‏ ‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَخَّرَ الطَّوَافَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ ‏

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu al-Zubayr, from 'A'ishah and Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Prophet ﷺ delayed the Tawaf on the Day of Sacrifice until the night. — Meaning Tawaf al-Ifadah can be performed at night.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زُهَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَمْرٍو يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏لَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ ذَبَحَ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ غَيَّرَ ‏ ‏تُخُومَ ‏ ‏الْأَرْضِ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ ‏ ‏كَمَهَ ‏ ‏الْأَعْمَى عَنْ السَّبِيلِ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ سَبَّ وَالِدَهُ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ تَوَلَّى غَيْرَ مَوَالِيهِ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلَ قَوْمِ ‏ ‏لُوطٍ ‏ ‏وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلَ قَوْمِ ‏ ‏لُوطٍ ‏ ‏وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلَ قَوْمِ ‏ ‏لُوطٍ ‏

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Zuhayr, from 'Amr, meaning Ibn Abi 'Amr, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'May Allah curse whoever sacrifices to other than Allah, and may Allah curse whoever shelters a wrongdoer (muhdith), and may Allah curse whoever curses his parents, and may Allah curse whoever alters the boundary markers of the land.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏إِسْرَائِيلَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّفْخِ فِي الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ ‏

'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Isra'il, from 'Abd al-Karim, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited blowing into food and drink.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سُفْيَانَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏حَبِيبٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَا يُبْغِضُ ‏ ‏الْأَنْصَارَ ‏ ‏رَجُلٌ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ‏ ‏أَوْ إِلَّا أَبْغَضَهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ‏

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Habib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), from the Prophet ﷺ: 'No man who believes in Allah and the Last Day hates the Ansar.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏وَرَوْحٌ ‏ ‏الْمَعْنَى ‏ ‏قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَوْفٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ أُسْرِيَ بِي وَأَصْبَحْتُ ‏ ‏بِمَكَّةَ ‏ ‏فَظِعْتُ بِأَمْرِي وَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ النَّاسَ مُكَذِّبِيَّ فَقَعَدَ مُعْتَزِلًا حَزِينًا قَالَ فَمَرَّ عَدُوُّ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَبُو جَهْلٍ ‏ ‏فَجَاءَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ كَالْمُسْتَهْزِئِ هَلْ كَانَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَعَمْ قَالَ مَا هُوَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ أُسْرِيَ بِي اللَّيْلَةَ قَالَ إِلَى أَيْنَ قَالَ إِلَى ‏ ‏بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ ‏ ‏قَالَ ثُمَّ أَصْبَحْتَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيْنَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَلَمْ يُرِ أَنَّهُ يُكَذِّبُهُ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَجْحَدَهُ الْحَدِيثَ إِذَا دَعَا قَوْمَهُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ دَعَوْتُ قَوْمَكَ تُحَدِّثُهُمْ مَا حَدَّثْتَنِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَعَمْ فَقَالَ هَيَّا مَعْشَرَ ‏ ‏بَنِي كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَانْتَفَضَتْ إِلَيْهِ الْمَجَالِسُ وَجَاءُوا حَتَّى جَلَسُوا إِلَيْهِمَا قَالَ حَدِّثْ قَوْمَكَ بِمَا حَدَّثْتَنِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏إِنِّي أُسْرِيَ بِي اللَّيْلَةَ قَالُوا إِلَى أَيْنَ قُلْتُ إِلَى ‏ ‏بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ ‏ ‏قَالُوا ثُمَّ أَصْبَحْتَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيْنَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَمِنْ بَيْنِ مُصَفِّقٍ وَمِنْ بَيْنِ وَاضِعٍ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ مُتَعَجِّبًا لِلْكَذِبِ زَعَمَ قَالُوا وَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ ‏ ‏تَنْعَتَ ‏ ‏لَنَا الْمَسْجِدَ وَفِي الْقَوْمِ مَنْ قَدْ سَافَرَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ الْبَلَدِ وَرَأَى الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَذَهَبْتُ ‏ ‏أَنْعَتُ ‏ ‏فَمَا زِلْتُ ‏ ‏أَنْعَتُ ‏ ‏حَتَّى الْتَبَسَ عَلَيَّ بَعْضُ ‏ ‏النَّعْتِ ‏ ‏قَالَ فَجِيءَ بِالْمَسْجِدِ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ حَتَّى وُضِعَ دُونَ دَارِ ‏ ‏عِقَالٍ ‏ ‏أَوْ ‏ ‏عُقَيْلٍ ‏ ‏فَنَعَتُّهُ ‏ ‏وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ وَكَانَ مَعَ هَذَا ‏ ‏نَعْتٌ ‏ ‏لَمْ أَحْفَظْهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ الْقَوْمُ أَمَّا ‏ ‏النَّعْتُ ‏ ‏فَوَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَصَابَ ‏

Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Rawh narrated to us, with the same meaning, they said: 'Awf narrated to us, from Zurarah ibn Awfa, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'On the night I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra'), a beautiful fragrance came to me. I said: O Jibril, what is this beautiful fragrance? He said: This is the fragrance of the hairdresser of Fir'awn's daughter and her children. I said: What happened to her?' He then narrated the story of the hairdresser who believed in Allah and was killed along with her children by Fir'awn for her faith.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا قَالَ ‏ ‏فِرْعَوْنُ ‏ { ‏آمَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا الَّذِي آمَنَتْ بِهِ ‏ ‏بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ ‏ } ‏قَالَ قَالَ لِي ‏ ‏جِبْرِيلُ ‏ ‏يَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ ‏ ‏لَوْ رَأَيْتَنِي وَقَدْ أَخَذْتُ حَالًا مِنْ ‏ ‏حَالِ ‏ ‏الْبَحْرِ فَدَسَّيْتُهُ فِي ‏ ‏فِيهِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَنَالَهُ الرَّحْمَةُ ‏

Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Zayd, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When Musa (عليه السلام) came to the Red Sea with his people, he looked behind and saw the dust of Fir'awn's army. His companions said: We are overtaken! Musa said: Never! Indeed, my Lord is with me; He will guide me. Allah revealed to Musa: Strike the sea with your staff. So he struck it, and the sea split into twelve paths, and each tribe knew its path.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو عُمَرَ الضَّرِيرُ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا كَانَتْ اللَّيْلَةُ الَّتِي ‏ ‏أُسْرِيَ ‏ ‏بِي فِيهَا أَتَتْ عَلَيَّ رَائِحَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ فَقُلْتُ يَا ‏ ‏جِبْرِيلُ ‏ ‏مَا هَذِهِ الرَّائِحَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ رَائِحَةُ ‏ ‏مَاشِطَةِ ابْنَةِ فِرْعَوْنَ ‏ ‏وَأَوْلَادِهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمَا شَأْنُهَا قَالَ بَيْنَا هِيَ تُمَشِّطُ ابْنَةَ ‏ ‏فِرْعَوْنَ ‏ ‏ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِذْ سَقَطَتْ ‏ ‏الْمِدْرَى ‏ ‏مِنْ يَدَيْهَا فَقَالَتْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَتْ لَهَا ابْنَةُ ‏ ‏فِرْعَوْنَ ‏ ‏أَبِي قَالَتْ لَا وَلَكِنْ رَبِّي وَرَبُّ أَبِيكِ اللَّهُ قَالَتْ أُخْبِرُهُ ‏ ‏بِذَلِكَ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ فَدَعَاهَا فَقَالَ يَا فُلَانَةُ وَإِنَّ لَكِ رَبًّا غَيْرِي قَالَتْ نَعَمْ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ فَأَمَرَ بِبَقَرَةٍ مِنْ نُحَاسٍ فَأُحْمِيَتْ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ ‏ ‏تُلْقَى هِيَ وَأَوْلَادُهَا فِيهَا قَالَتْ لَهُ إِنَّ لِي إِلَيْكَ حَاجَةً قَالَ وَمَا حَاجَتُكِ قَالَتْ أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَجْمَعَ عِظَامِي وَعِظَامَ وَلَدِي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَتَدْفِنَنَا قَالَ ذَلِكَ لَكِ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ الْحَقِّ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِأَوْلَادِهَا فَأُلْقُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا وَاحِدًا وَاحِدًا إِلَى أَنْ انْتَهَى ذَلِكَ إِلَى صَبِيٍّ لَهَا مُرْضَعٍ وَكَأَنَّهَا تَقَاعَسَتْ مِنْ أَجْلِهِ قَالَ يَا ‏ ‏أُمَّهْ ‏ ‏اقْتَحِمِي فَإِنَّ عَذَابَ الدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْآخِرَةِ فَاقْتَحَمَتْ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏تَكَلَّمَ أَرْبَعَةٌ صِغَارٌ ‏ ‏عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏وَصَاحِبُ ‏ ‏جُرَيْجٍ ‏ ‏وَشَاهِدُ ‏ ‏يُوسُفَ ‏ ‏وَابْنُ ‏ ‏مَاشِطَةِ ابْنَةِ فِرْعَوْنَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَفَّانُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِهِ مَرَّتْ بِهِ رَائِحَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَسَنٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِهِ مَرَّتْ بِهِ رَائِحَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ رَبُّكِ قَالَتْ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قَوْلَ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏تَكَلَّمَ أَرْبَعَةٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏نَحْوَهُ ‏

Abu 'Umar al-Darir narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I was shown the nations. I saw a prophet with a small group, a prophet with one or two men, and a prophet with no one at all. Then a great multitude was raised before me, and I thought they were my ummah. It was said to me: This is Musa and his people. Then it was said: Look to the horizon. And there was a great multitude. Then it was said: Look to the other horizon. And there was another great multitude. It was said: This is your ummah, and among them are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏الْجَعْدُ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيُّ ‏ ‏يَرْوِيهِ عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏يَرْوِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَرِهَ مِنْ أَمِيرِهِ أَمْرًا فَلْيَصْبِرْ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ السُّلْطَانِ شِبْرًا فَمَاتَ إِلَّا مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يُونُسُ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏الْجَعْدُ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو رَجَاءٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏ ‏مَنْ رَأَى مِنْ أَمِيرِهِ شَيْئًا يَكْرَهُهُ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ ‏

Abu Kamil narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Zayd narrated to us, al-Ja'd Abu 'Uthman narrated to us, Abu Raja' al-'Utaridi narrated to me, relating it from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), relating it from the Prophet ﷺ who said in what he relates from his Lord عز وجل (hadith qudsi): 'Allah عز وجل wrote down the good deeds and the bad deeds, then He made that clear. Whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, Allah writes it as one complete good deed. If he intends it and does it, Allah writes it as ten good deeds to seven hundred times, to many times more. If he intends a bad deed but does not do it, Allah writes it as one complete good deed. If he intends it and does it, Allah writes it as one single bad deed.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏الْجَعْدُ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ ‏ ‏قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ‏ ‏أَبُو رَجَاءٍ الْعُطَارِدِيُّ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏يَرْوِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ الْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ فَمَنْ هَمَّ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةً كَامِلَةً وَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كَتَبَهَا اللَّهُ لَهُ عَشْرًا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةٍ إِلَى أَضْعَافٍ كَثِيرَةٍ أَوْ إِلَى مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُضَاعِفَ وَمَنْ هَمَّ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبَهَا اللَّهُ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةً كَامِلَةً فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كَتَبَهَا اللَّهُ سَيِّئَةً وَاحِدَةً ‏

Abu Kamil narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Zayd narrated to us, al-Ja'd Abu 'Uthman informed us, he said: Abu Raja' al-'Utaridi narrated to me, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), relating it from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Allah عز وجل said: The son of Adam denied Me, and he had no right to do so. And the son of Adam insulted Me, and he had no right to do so. As for his denying Me, it is his saying: He will not recreate me as He created me — and the first creation is not easier for Me than repeating it. As for his insulting Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken a son — and I am the One, the Self-Sufficient, I do not beget nor was I begotten, and there is none comparable to Me.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبُو كَامِلٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شَرِيكٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ‏ ‏مَوْلَى آلِ ‏ ‏طَلْحَةَ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏كُرَيْبٍ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏جَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُخْتِي نَذَرَتْ أَنْ تَحُجَّ مَاشِيَةً قَالَ ‏ ‏إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَصْنَعُ بِشَقَاءِ أُخْتِكِ شَيْئًا لِتَخْرُجْ رَاكِبَةً وَلْتُكَفِّرْ عَنْ يَمِينِهَا ‏

Abu Kamil narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, freed slave of the family of Talhah, from Kurayb, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'My mother vowed to perform Hajj but did not perform it until she died. Should I perform Hajj on her behalf?' He ﷺ said: 'Yes, perform Hajj on her behalf. Do you not think that if your mother had a debt, would you pay it? Pay the debt to Allah, for Allah is most deserving of having His debt paid.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بَهْزٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَمَّامٌ ‏ ‏قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏طَافَ ‏ ‏بِالْبَيْتِ ‏ ‏سَبْعًا وَسَعَى سَبْعًا وَإِنَّمَا سَعَى أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُرِيَ النَّاسَ قُوَّتَهُ ‏

Bahz narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, he said: Qatadah informed us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Tawaf around the Ka'bah seven times and performed Sa'y seven times. And Ibn 'Abbas said: 'If the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is a good example for you, then follow his example, for he performed Tawaf seven times.'

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏بَهْزٌ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏هَمَّامٌ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنَا ‏ ‏قَتَادَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عِكْرِمَةَ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏كَانَ يَكْرَهُ ‏ ‏الْبُسْرَ ‏ ‏وَحْدَهُ وَيَقُولُ ‏ ‏نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَفْدَ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏الْمُزَّاءِ ‏ ‏فَأَرْهَبُ أَنْ تَكُونَ ‏ ‏الْبُسْرَ ‏

Bahz narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah informed us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما). He used to dislike nabidh made from unripe dates (busr) alone, and he would say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the delegation of 'Abd al-Qays from making nabidh in gourds, pitch-coated containers, hollow tree trunks, and green jars. He ordered them to soak dates in water-skins.

‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَبِي ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏أَيُّوبُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَبِيهِ ‏ ‏عَنِ ‏ ‏ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏ ‏قَالَ ‏ ‏قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏الْمَدِينَةَ ‏ ‏فَرَأَى ‏ ‏الْيَهُودَ ‏ ‏يَصُومُونَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ مَا هَذَا الْيَوْمُ الَّذِي تَصُومُونَهُ قَالُوا هَذَا يَوْمٌ صَالِحٌ هَذَا يَوْمٌ نَجَّى اللَّهُ فِيهِ ‏ ‏بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ‏ ‏مِنْ عَدُوِّهِمْ فَصَامَهُ ‏ ‏مُوسَى ‏ ‏عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ‏ ‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏أَنَا أَحَقُّ ‏ ‏بِمُوسَى ‏ ‏مِنْكُمْ فَصَامَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏وَأَمَرَ بِصَوْمِهِ ‏

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Madinah and found the Jews fasting on the day of 'Ashura'. He ﷺ asked: 'What is this?' They said: 'This is the day Allah saved Musa and drowned Fir'awn, so Musa fasted it out of gratitude.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'We are more entitled to Musa than you.' So he fasted it and commanded fasting on it.
