حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَوْلَاكَ إِذَا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ جَبْهَتَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ وَصَدْرَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَ
لَى مَا تَصْنَعُ قَالَ التَّوَاضُعُ قَالَ هَكَذَا رِبْضَةُ الْكَلْبِ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَجَدَ رُئِيَ بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ قَالَ أَبِي و حَدَّثَنَاه حُسَيْنٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
Hashim narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from Shu'bah who said: A man came to Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنهما and said: 'Your freed slave, when he prostrates, places his forehead, forearms, and chest on the ground.' Ibn 'Abbas said to him: 'What is wrong with that? I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it. He would place his forehead, his nose, and his hands on the ground, and he would spread himself out until the whiteness of his armpits could be seen.'
