حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَهَاشِمٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْبَخْتَرِيِّ قَالَ أَهْلَلْنَا هِلَالَ رَمَضَانَ وَنَحْنُ بِذَاتِ عِرْقٍ قَالَ فَأَرْسَلْنَا رَجُلًا إِلَى ابْ
نِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ قَالَ هَاشِمٌ فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ مَدَّ رُؤْيَتَهُ قَالَ هَاشِمٌ لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hashim narrated to us, they said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah who said: I heard Abu al-Bakhtari who said: We sighted the crescent of Ramadan while we were at Dhat 'Irq. We sent a messenger to Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنهما to ask him. Ibn 'Abbas said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed Allah has extended it for the sighting. If it is obscured from you, then complete the count to thirty.'
