English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sa'id ibn Jubayr — that Umm Hufayd, the maternal aunt of Ibn 'Abbas, gifted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ clarified butter [samn], dried curd [aqit], and spiny-tailed lizards [dabb]. He ate the clarified butter and the dried curd but left the lizards out of distaste. They were eaten at the table of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — and had they been forbidden, they would not have been eaten at his table.
