English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Mujahid [who was asked by al-'Awwam ibn Hawshab] — about the prostration in Surah Sad. Mujahid said: 'Yes, I asked Ibn 'Abbas about it. He said: 'Do you recite this verse: 'And from his descendants, Dawud and Sulayman...' and at the end of it: '...so follow their guidance [6:84-90]'?' He said: 'Your Prophet (ﷺ) was commanded to follow the guidance of Dawud [who prostrated in gratitude].'
