English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Abi Ishaq, from al-Aswad ibn Yazid — that Ibn Mas'ud said: 'the Prophet ﷺ performed the prostration of recitation at [the end of Surah] al-Najm [53], and the Muslims prostrated — except for one man from Quraysh who took a handful of soil and raised it to his forehead and prostrated on it. 'Abdullah said: I later saw him killed as a disbeliever.'
