English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Waki', from Sufyan, from Jabir, from Abi al-Duha, from Masruq — that 'Abdullah said: 'Among the things I have not forgotten — despite [other things] I have forgotten — is that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to give the salam to his right and to his left: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah; Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah — until the whiteness of his two cheeks could be seen, or until we could see [it].'
