English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad, from Shu'ba, from Abi Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Maymun — that 'Abdullah said: 'While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in prostration and people from Quraysh were around him, 'Uqba ibn Abi Mu'ayt came with the entrails of a slaughtered camel and threw them onto the back of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He did not raise his head. Fatima came and removed them from his back and cursed the one who had done it. He then said [in supplication]: O Allah, I refer [the matter of] the notables of Quraysh to You: Abu Jahl ibn Hisham, 'Utba ibn Rabi'a, Shayba ibn Rabi'a, 'Uqba ibn Abi Mu'ayt, and Umayya ibn Khalaf — or Ubayy ibn Khalaf (Shu'ba was the one who was uncertain about which). He said: I [later] saw them killed on the day of Badr and thrown into a well — except that Umayya — or Ubayy — was dismembered and not thrown into the well.' — [Another chain] via Khalaf, from Isra'il, mentions the same hadith but says 'Amr ibn Hisham and Umayya ibn Khalaf, and adds 'Imara ibn al-Walid.
