حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ حَنَشٍ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ل
َيْلَةَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ قَالَ مَعِي نَبِيذٌ فِي إِدَاوَةٍ فَقَالَ اصْبُبْ عَلَيَّ فَتَوَضَّأَ قَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ شَرَابٌ وَطَهُورٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Yahya ibn Ishaq, from Ibn Lahi'a, from Qays ibn al-Hajjaj, from Hanash al-San'ani, from Ibn 'Abbas, from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud — that he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Night of the Jinn. the Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'O 'Abdullah, do you have water?' He said: 'I have nabidh [date-juice] in a small water-skin.' He said: 'Pour it for me.' He poured it and the Prophet ﷺ performed ablution. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'O 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud — it is both a drink and a purifier.'
