حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ سَمِعْنَا مُنَادِيًا يُنَادِي اللَّهُ
أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ مِنْ النَّارِ قَالَ فَابْتَدَرْنَاهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ صَاحِبُ مَاشِيَةٍ أَدْرَكَتْهُ الصَّلَاةُ فَنَادَى بِهَا

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us. And 'Abd al-Wahhab from Ibn Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, Allah عز وجل divided your character among you just as He divided your provision among you. Indeed, Allah gives wealth to those He loves and those He does not love, but He does not give faith except to those He loves. So whoever is stingy about spending wealth, fears fighting the enemy, and dreads staying awake at night, let him increase in saying: SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, and Allahu Akbar.'
