حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَل
َيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الرَّجُلُ مِنَّا فِي صَلَاتِهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللَّهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى فُلَانٍ يَخُصُّ فَقَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ هُوَ السَّلَامُ فَإِذَا قَعَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ فَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ سَلَّمْتُمْ عَلَى كُلِّ عَبْدٍ فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ثُمَّ يَتَخَيَّرُ بَعْدُ مِنْ الدُّعَاءِ مَا شَاءَ أَوْ مَا أَحَبَّ

English Translation
Abu Sa'id narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, Mansur narrated to us, from Shaqiq, from 'Abdullah who said: 'When we used to pray behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man among us would say: Peace be upon Allah, peace be upon Jibril (Gabriel), peace be upon Mika'il (Michael). the Prophet ﷺ turned to us and said: Indeed, Allah is al-Salam (The Source of Peace). Rather, when one of you sits in prayer, let him say: All greetings, prayers, and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger. Then let him choose whichever supplication he wishes.'
