English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Abi Wa'il — raising it to the Prophet ﷺ — that he said: 'Keep reviewing the Quran, for it slips away from the hearts of men more readily than livestock from their hobbles. How wrong it is for one of you to say: I forgot such-and-such a verse. Rather, he was caused to forget.'
