English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj, both from Shu'ba, from Mansur, from Abi Wa'il — from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'How wrong it is for any of you — or any of them — to say: I forgot such-and-such a verse. Rather, he was caused to forget. Keep reviewing the Quran — for it slips away from the hearts of men more readily than livestock from their hobbles.'
