حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَائِمَ حُنَيْنٍ بِالْجِعِرَّانَةِ قَالَ فَازْدَحَمُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْ
هِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ عَبْدًا مِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَكَذَّبُوهُ وَشَجُّوهُ فَجَعَلَ يَمْسَحُ الدَّمَ عَنْ جَبِينِهِ وَيَقُولُ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِقَوْمِي فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ جَبْهَتَهُ يَحْكِي الرَّجُلَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Bahz, from Hammad ibn Zayd, from 'Asim ibn Bahdala, from Abi Wa'il — that 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed the spoils of Hunayn at al-Ji'irrana. The people crowded around him. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: A servant from the servants of Allah — Allah (عز وجل) sent him to his people. They denied him and gashed his head. He began wiping the blood from his forehead and saying: O Lord, forgive my people, for they do not know. 'Abdullah said: It is as if I can see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wiping his own forehead, reenacting the man's action.'
