English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Yahya ibn Zakariyya, from Isra'il, from Abu Fazara, from Abu Zayd, the client of 'Amr ibn Hurayth — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'Do you have purifying water?' I said: No. He said: 'What is this in the flask?' I said: Nabidh. He said: 'Show me it.' [Then he said:] 'A wholesome date and pure water.' And he performed ablution with it and prayed.
