English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Mu'awiya, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from al-Aswad — that he said: 'We were with the Prophet ﷺ in a cave when Surah al-Mursalat [77] was revealed to him. We were taking [the verses] fresh from his mouth when a snake appeared and came at us. He said: "Kill it!" We rushed at it to kill it but it escaped us. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: "Allah has protected it from your harm, just as He has protected you from its harm."'
