Hadith #364

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Mansur narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, from 'Abdullah who said: 'May Allah curse the women who get tattoos and those who tattoo others, those who pluck eyebrows and those who have their eyebrows plucked, and those who file their teeth for beautification, altering the creation of Allah عز وجل.' A woman from Banu Asad called Umm Ya'qub heard of this. She came to him and said: I have been told that you said such and such. He said: 'Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed, and it is in the Book of Allah عز وجل?' She said: I have read what is between the two covers (of the Quran) and I did not find it. He said: 'If you had read it, you would have found it. Have you not read: {Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it} [al-Hashr 59:7]?'
