English Translation
It was narrated — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Dawud (meaning Ibn Qays), from Zayd ibn Aslam — that he said: 'My father sent me to Ibn 'Umar I said: May I enter? He recognized my voice and said: \"My son, when you come to a people, say: al-Salamu alaykum. If they respond, then say: May I enter?\"' Then he saw his son Waqid trailing his waist-wrapper [izaar] and said: 'Raise your garment — for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: \"Whoever trails his garment out of arrogance — Allah will not look at him.\"'
