English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ibn Abi Rawwad, from Nafi' — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed in the mosque and saw phlegm [nakhama] in the direction of the qibla. When he finished his prayer, he said: \"When one of you prays in the mosque, he is in private communion with his Lord — and Allah (تبارك وتعالى) turns His face toward him. So none of you should spit in the direction of the qibla, nor to his right.\"' Then he called for a stick, scraped [the spot] with it, then called for khaluq [a fragrant dye] and colored [the spot] with it.
