حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي غَنِيَّةَ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو جَنَابٍ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ ح
َوْشَبٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَئِنْ تَرَكْتُمْ الْجِهَادَ وَأَخَذْتُمْ بِأَذْنَابِ الْبَقَرِ وَتَبَايَعْتُمْ بِالْعِينَةِ لَيُلْزِمَنَّكُمْ اللَّهُ مَذَلَّةً فِي رِقَابِكُمْ لَا تَنْفَكُّ عَنْكُمْ حَتَّى تَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ وَتَرْجِعُوا عَلَى مَا كُنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Ghanniyya, from Abu Janab, from Shahr ibn Hawshab — from the Prophet ﷺ — that he said: 'If you abandon jihad, take to the tails of cattle [i.e., become preoccupied with farming], and engage in 'ina transactions [deferred buy-back sales], Allah will impose upon you a humiliation that will not be lifted from your necks until you repent to Allah and return to what you were [upon].'
