‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏شُعْبَةُ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ‏ ‏سَمِعَ ‏ ‏ابْنَ عُمَرَ ‏ ‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏كَانَ ‏ ‏يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ‏ ‏وَيُوتِرُ ‏ ‏بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ ‏

English Translation

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Anas ibn Sirin, who heard Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) [say] that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the night prayer in pairs [two rak'ahs at a time] and perform witr with one rak'ah.
