حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ رَأَى حُلَّةَ سِيَرَاءَ أَوْ حَرِيرٍ تُبَاعُ فَقَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ اشْتَرَيْتَ هَذِهِ تَلْبَسُهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ أَوْ لِلْوُفُودِ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَ
نْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ قَالَ فَأُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْهَا حُلَلٌ فَبَعَثَ إِلَى عُمَرَ مِنْهَا بِحُلَّةٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مِنْكَ تَقُولُ مَا قُلْتَ وَبَعَثْتَ إِلَيَّ بِهَا قَالَ إِنَّمَا بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَبِيعَهَا أَوْ تَكْسُوَهَا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya, from 'Ubayd Allah, from Nafi' — that 'Umar saw a striped silk robe [hullat sira'] — or [a garment of] silk — being sold. He said to the Prophet ﷺ: 'If you were to buy this to wear on Fridays or [when receiving] delegations.' [the Prophet ﷺ] said: 'Only one with no share [in the Hereafter] wears this.' He said: Some of these robes were then gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he sent one to 'Umar. ['Umar] said: 'I heard you say what you said, yet you sent it to me?' [the Prophet ﷺ] said: 'I sent it to you so that you may sell it or clothe someone [else] with it.'
