‏ ‏حَدَّثَنَا ‏ ‏يَحْيَى ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏أَخْبَرَنِي ‏ ‏نَافِعٌ ‏ ‏عَنْ ‏ ‏عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏عَنْ النَّبِيِّ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏مَنْ أَعْتَقَ ‏ ‏شِرْكًا ‏ ‏لَهُ فِي مَمْلُوكٍ فَقَدْ عَتَقَ كُلُّهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ لِلَّذِي أَعْتَقَ نَصِيبَهُ مِنْ الْمَالِ مَا يَبْلُغُ ثَمَنَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ عِتْقُهُ كُلُّهُ ‏

English Translation

Yahya narrated to us, from 'Ubayd Allah, Nafi' informed me, from 'Abdullah [Ibn 'Umar] (رضي الله عنهما), from the Prophet ﷺ: 'Whoever manumits his share of a jointly-owned slave, then the entire slave is freed. If the manumitter has enough money to cover the remaining value, the slave is freed entirely and the co-owners are given their fair shares.'
