English Translation

Yahya narrated to us, from 'Ubayd Allah who said: Nafi' informed me, from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enjoined the zakah of Fitr: a sa' of dates or a sa' of barley, upon the young and old, free and enslaved, male and female, from among the Muslims. He commanded that it be given before the people go out to the [Eid] prayer.
