حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ س

َأَلَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ الْوَتْرِ أَوَاجِبٌ هُوَ فَقَالَ أَوْتَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمُسْلِمُونَ

English Translation
Waki' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from 'Umar ibn Muhammad, from Nafi': A man asked Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) about witr — 'Is it obligatory?' He said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed witr, and so did the Muslims.' The man kept asking: 'Is it obligatory?' He kept saying: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed witr, and so did the Muslims.'
