Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ وَيَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ

وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَرَمَى بِهِ وَقَالَ لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا قَالَ يَزِيدُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ

English Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via Waki', from Sufyan; and Yazid, from Sufyan, from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar — that he said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a ring of gold, and the people made their rings of gold. Then he threw it away and said: "I will never wear it again."' — [Yazid added:] 'And the people threw their rings away [as well].'
