English Translation

It was narrated from [Ibn 'Umar] (رضي الله عنهما) — via Yahya, from Malik, from al-Zuhri, from Salim, from his father — that he said: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began the prayer, he would raise his hands level with his shoulders. When he bowed [in ruku'], he would do the same. When he raised his head from the bow, he would do the same. And when he said: "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah [Allah hears whoever praises Him]" he would say: "Rabbana wa laka al-hamd [Our Lord, to You belongs all praise]." But he would not do the same [raise his hands] during prostration.'
