English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Affan, from Hammad [ibn Salama], from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Mulayka — that Mu'awiya came to Mecca and entered the Ka'ba. He sent to Ibn 'Umar [asking]: 'Where did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray?' He said: 'He prayed between the two columns, opposite the door.' Then Ibn al-Zubayr came and knocked loudly on the door until it was opened for him. He said to Mu'awiya: 'You know full well that I possessed the same knowledge as you — but you envied me [by sending to Ibn 'Umar rather than asking me].'
