English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Affan, from Shu'ba, from 'Asim ibn 'Ubayd Allah, from Salim ibn 'Abdullah, from his father — that 'Umar said: 'O Messenger of Allah, tell me — what we do [of good deeds] — is it something newly begun, or something already determined [and concluded]?' He said: 'Something already determined — so act, O son of al-Khattab, for each person is made easy [for what matches his destiny]. Whoever is of the people of happiness will do the deeds of happiness; and whoever is of the people of misery will do the deeds of misery.'
